New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's sent a letter to Khloe Kardashian informing the reality star the logo on her T-shirt line may be violating copyright law.

The governor confirmed his administration sent what he called a "pro forma" letter advising Kardashian that her T-shirt line resembles the logo of a New York farm program.

The state's design has an image of the Statue of Liberty above crop rows, encircled by the words "Pride of New York."

Kardashian's shirt contains the Statue of Liberty image and crop rows and, in font similar to the New York logo, the words: "Rich Soil New York."

When did Democrats start respecting property rights? (Answer - any time it impacts THEM).

I’m expecting to get a letter from some official any day now, reminding me that I am a slave of the state. Pro forma, of course.

They just assume that you already know that, and don't have to be reminded.

Guess checking for similarities to anything else is for little people. They had a beauty line that had to be renamed because it was too similar to a locally produced make-up line.

First I heard of ‘em, South Park was making fun of ‘em. Otherwise, they’re invisible to me.

I’m still in the “why are ANY of these trashy reality show people so famous and why should we give a hoot?” category.

It’s a bit more complicated than that. Liberty Island is in New Jersey waters, but the island itself is considered to be within the territorial jurisdiction of New York. It is jointly administered (I believe) by New York and New Jersey, along with the National Parks Service.

Speaking as an intellectual property law attorney, and assuming I’m looking at the original and the accused, that’s infringement.

Create your own artwork, Kardashian!

It can permissibly include the statue of liberty, but only if it’s YOUR creation, not copied from someone else’s.

Is it too much to ask for a meteor to strike and to take all of the Kardashians with it?

The Kardashians are this generation’s version of the Gabor sisters - they’re famous, but nobody knows why.

Cuomo is more than a few fries short of a Happy Meal isn't he?
He's missing the burger, the drink and the toy!

Petty tyrants like to throw their weight around - even when they're wrong.

He's compensating for something very small by trying to pick a fight about something very big.

Yep, Gov. Cuomo is a few fries short of a Happy Meal, but he is correct in this case.

The ideal timing would be when they get together with Cuomo for the obligatory apology/makeup photo-op.

Kardashians’ company is Boldface Licensing + Branding, boldfaced indeed.

It’s a pity the USA isn’t a reality show, so we could vote them off the island.

Fair enough. However, is this something a state Governor should even be concerned about?

She’s right, the Rich Soil New York, but the poor and occupy crowd don’t keep it clean any better.

On another note, will Cuomo complain when he sees the logo with a leather-studded “Lady” Liberty fudge-packing a bound and ball-gagged submissive at the next Pride of New York parade?
