Virginia GOP nominee compared Planned Parenthood to KKK

An outspoken and provocative conservative who emerged from Saturday's Republican Party of Virginia Convention as the party's nominee for lieutenant governor once compared Planned Parenthood to the Ku Klux Klan and blasted African-Americans for their "slavish devotion" to the Democratic Party.

E.W. Jackson, an African-American pastor and attorney from Chesapeake, made the comments in a self-produced "message to black Christians" posted on YouTube last year.

"The Democrat Party has created an unholy alliance between certain so-called civil rights leaders and Planned Parenthood, which has killed unborn black babies by the tens of millions. Planned Parenthood has been far more lethal to black lives than the KKK ever was," he said in the video. "And the Democrat Party and the black civil rights allies are partners in this genocide."

Sensing an opportunity to tie Jackson to the rest of the Republican ticket in Virginia, especially conservative gubernatorial nominee Ken Cuccinelli, Democrats have already started highlighting those remarks and others in emails to reporters.

This guy Jackson is a bit of a lose canon. An eccentric who will turn off the soft republicans and independents. Not helpful to Cucinelli’s campaign (in very purple VA), that’s for sure.

Unfortunately, many civil rights leaders support PP. They see PP as a provider of health care to the poor.

They also see Obozo as a good president and, labor unions as beneficial. Shows what those @$$ hats know.

Bishop Jackson has the overwhelming support of the grassroots. The fact that anyone who would consider a man of God who speaks the truth to be a “loose cannon” speaks more to them than it does to him. He is a revolutionary in a time of universal deceit.

Sorry, the political reality is Bishop Jackson is likely to be crushed by the Dem Lt. Gov candidate, Aneesh Chopra. The grass roots may love Jackson, but he is not likely to be terribly popular statewide (in a general election) in what is increasingly a purplish-blue state. Nominating Jackson made electing Ken Cuccinelli a much more difficult task. With this turn of events, Terry "Bag Man" McAuliffe may now have the advantage.

Jackson is more likely to have a career on talk radio than public office. I know people don't want to hear it, but we need to be nominating the most conservative candidate that CAN win. We'd have been much better off with someone like Corey Stewart in my view.

Chopra is an ultraleft moonbat. Having read his page, he panders to the extreme gay lobby in the cheap shots he took on Bishop Jackson.

I don't disagree, but political realities are what they are. There is very little chance Bishop Jackson will win in Virginia unless the political environment changes dramatically between now and November. VA is a purple, but increasingly leaning blue, state and a favorite of the grass roots often doesn't make for a good statewide nominee. We've unfortunately got 2 Democrat Senators and this state voted for Obama in 08' and 12'. Jackson reminds me of an Alan Keyes type candidate. Very popular with the base, terribly unpopular with general election voters.

There is evidence and a picture of PP’s founder endorsing the KKK.
Jackson is right on. Nothing Akin about his statement. Hope the media hypes that qoute cause PP is hiding its racist past.

Remember that Virginia has voted against the party in the White House in its statewide elections every 4 years since 1977. The folks that vote in the statewide (off-year) elections tend to differ from those that have voted in the regular generals, and lean more Republican.

As for the Senators, half the reason those 2 were elected was because both faced ultimately subpar GOP opponents. It was shocking how bad Gilmore performed (about as bad as the hapless minister the GOP ran against Chuck Robb in 1988) and clearly George Allen never recovered from his shocking upset in 2006 and in hindsight should never have run again.

Clearly running milquetoasts and establishment types get us nowhere but loss after loss. I think it’s time to run an honest and motivating candidate like Bishop Jackson for a change. The difference between him and Ambassador Keyes was that when Keyes ran against Zero as the substitute nominee for the Senate, he wasn’t really an IL resident and didn’t realize that he was being used by the state political Combine (the GOP side of which had no intention of helping him at all).

Jackson will come in with the support of his running mates, Cuccinelli and Obenshain. This time it’s Chopra that is the out of touch leftist carpetbagger from New Jersey who is running as the unapologetic gay lobby candidate.

If Virginia votes for carpetbagger McAwfull and carpetbagger Chopra, then they need to change their flag.

Yes, but the state has changed quite a lot since them - particularly Northern Virginia. NoVa is much more liberal, much more populated and demographics are working against the GOP here.

Well, you got your man. He's a strong conservative, I like him personally and will be happy to vote for him - but political realities are what they are. He probably doesn't have much of a chance. He will become known for being primarily a social conservative candidate and most likely lose badly. Worse, it is going to make it much harder for Cuccinelli who was already being tagged as too much of a social conservative. This state isn't what it once was, McDonnell (who is a social conservative) knew that and ran almost exclusively on fiscal matters and studiously avoided talking about socon issues.

The difference between him and Ambassador Keyes was that when Keyes ran against Zero as the substitute nominee for the Senate

I'm not even talking about Keyes blowout loss in Illinois. The man was a grass roots favorite in Maryland before that, and he got slaughtered in every general election. I mean like losing by 30-40 points. The man couldn't even keep elections close. So much for the theory that just running a real conservative is enough. It isn't. You need skilled politicians who don't say things the general public recoils from (even if they are true). Bishop Jackson won't lose by 30-40 points, but the odds are he will lose.

I sure hope you're right. I gotta tell you, I think it was going to be hard enough for Cuccinelli. Having nominated Jackson, I think we are in real trouble here. Let's hope I am completely wrong and the Virginia public sees the light and rejects McAuliffe and Chopra.

The establishment wing is worthless.

The Virginia GOP-e is apoplectic about this. The real conservatives have taken control of the party. They were afraid this would happen if the nominees were chosen through a convention rather than a primary, which is why they fought the convention tooth and nail.

Oh, I know. I have relatives there. The husband is part of the wealthy big gubmint worker class. They're doing their part to turn the commonwealth into a cesspool like Maryland.

"Well, you got your man. He's a strong conservative, I like him personally and will be happy to vote for him - but political realities are what they are. He probably doesn't have much of a chance. By all accounts, McDonnell shouldn't have won by such a wide margin coming after the disastrous 2008 elections, yet he did. Dems are going to be on the defensive this year with the epic-level corruption. EVERY Dem candidate running should be tied to these scandals, especially the IRS one. Bishop Jackson should focus like a laser on that as another aspect of big government Democrat immorality.

"I'm not even talking about Keyes blowout loss in Illinois. The man was a grass roots favorite in Maryland before that, and he got slaughtered in every general election. I'm aware of his Senate runs in Maryland, but he was never a serious candidate. He was also running against (inexplicably) popular Democrat incumbents and was poorly funded in a state that has been largely Democrat since the 19th century with a rare interruption. The last time an unapologetic Conservative Republican won a Senate race in MD was in the 1950s. The last Republican Senator was the VERY far-left Chuck Mathias who retired in 1987 (and he would've preferred to switch parties had he continued to serve).

"I sure hope you're right. I gotta tell you, I think it was going to be hard enough for Cuccinelli. Having nominated Jackson, I think we are in real trouble here. Let's hope I am completely wrong and the Virginia public sees the light and rejects McAuliffe and Chopra."

That VA Dems would even entertain the notion of running a disastrous retread ultraleftist like McAuliffe gives the appearance that they weren't serious with trying to defeat Cuccinelli. Not to say we should take these races for granted, it's always best to run like you're a few points behind. I certainly have a lot more faith in running Cuccinelli than a Willardbot like Bolling. After all, if running a liberal like Willard was the better way to go to attract more votes, he should've easily carried VA last year... and we know how that went. RINO candidates gain us nothing.

If only we could have nominees chosen convention-style in every state. TN would have shown the door to RINOs like Lamar! and squishies like Corker about as fast as Tom Davis’s wife was (eliminated in the first round).

That retread is tied or leading already. McAuliffe is one of the best fundraisers in the world, and he's attached to the hip to the Clinton's who are very popular in NoVa. Despite the fact that TerryMac comes off as a used car salesman, he will not be easy to beat. I really do hope you are right, but as a long time VA resident I suspect Jackson was not a good choice, will lose badly, and will end up hurting us up and down the ticket. He's a good man, but he strikes me as more the radio personality type and less an electable politician. I'd have much rather seen someone like Corey Stewart get the nod - someone who has proven they can win general elections in NoVa (Prince William County).

Anyway, here's to hoping I am wrong.

Gotta stop looking at Democrat push polls of registered voters, which are less than useless. They’re only gonna give you ulcers. I’ve not seen one reliable poll of likely voters that had McAuliffe ahead.
