Welcome to PennLive's real time ward-by-ward, precinct-by-precinct coverage of Harrisburg's Democratic Mayoral primary.
As the votes are counted, we will update the color-coded map indicating which candidate received the most votes where: incumbent Mayor Linda Thompson, in green; City Controller Dan Miller, in blue; businessman Eric Papenfuse, in yellow; and resident Lewis Butts, in red. The bar chart will keep track of the total vote count. You can join the fun on Twitter.

I was just in Hershey two weeks ago. I’m not familiar with Harrisburg but I hear its a real hole
It is a case study on the results of decades of Democratic control. We are talking about some really, really stupid people. The area surrounding Harrisburg is conservative. If they only would look at how conservatives did things. My school district is in the top thirty in the state (out of 501 SDs), but with spending below the state average. My township hasn't raised property taxes in 30 years, in fact, last year they lowered property taxes.
That, however, will change. There is an increasing number of immigrants from Harrisburg moving into my area. Crime will start to increase, neighborhoods will start falling apart, property values will decrease, and sooner or later Democrats will start being elected.
I am already looking to move. There is no peaceable method of fighting this change.
Ugh. I’m sorry for you.
We’ve already gone down “that” road in Pittsburgh. Forced integration & social engineering have destroyed not just parts of the city, but the wilkinsburg school district, which at one time was top in the state. Now, I think it’s second to last.
Someone shot & killed a 1 year-old in a drive-by not far from my house at 7:30 this evening. Yeah, that’s my city. Gag.
I grew up just outside of Philadelphia. I know exactly what the signs of decay look like. I am getting out while the getting is good and I can still sell my house for a decent price. I am looking to move West. I will not disclose where because I don’t want an influx of people there LOL. I used 2010 census figures and FBI crime statistics to find a nice small town that is white, Christian (also a low LDS population) and crime-free. It is in a state that has low taxes, few regulations and respects the US Constitution, especially the 2a. It goes without saying that over 75% of the people vote Republican there, and to tell you the truth, the Democrats are not bad people either.
If you had to pick one city and it’s woeful tale to put into a 700-page book....this is the city. The previous mayor is still walking around, and no prosecutor has ever attempted to bring up a case. Based on commentary I’ve seen...the former mayor would go and ask the city council for a bond program to pay for some city renovation....several months after the bond was in place and funding was available....the mayor would toss out the original project and bring in a totally new project with no city council approval. This attitude was displayed several times....yet no court action ever taken.
I see Papenfuse won the nomination. Linda Thompson was a fiasco from the get-go.
Papenfuse will be just as bad as Queen Linda. He is a socialist radical, Occupy Harrisburg asshole. What is scary about him is speaks English, unlike Linda, so he will be taken seriously. Harrisburg is in for a world of hurt. They better ask Detroit if they can use their bulldozers when Detroit is finished.
What a treat. Of course, most of H’burg productive citizens have fled. I read there’s barely 12,000 Whites as of 2010 (out of less than 50k), and in 1950 it was probably at or above 75,000 (out of 90k). That sort of demographic shift is the death knell for most locales, as long as current cultural “norms” hold sway.
