A former T bus supervisor drove T vehicles for five years with a suspended driver’s license — a clear violation of the authority’s rules — the Herald has learned.

Kevin Graney, 60, was allowed to retire in March from his $86,000-a-year job, one month after the MBTA suspended the 20-year veteran because he lacked a valid driver’s license, the T said.

Former co-workers told the
Herald that among Graney’s job
responsibilities was disciplining and terminating bus drivers when they lost their licenses for more than 100 days.

a clear violation of the authority’s rules...

Ummm, let's not jump the gun here, to form a conclusion just yet. A violation, not having a license, depends on whether or not this is an undocumented worker or not. I mean, undocumented means just that, in every sense of the word... doesn't it?

Protecting his pension is the #1 priority. This news is just an Inconvenient Truth.

This isn’t news.

Everyone already knows that neither the law nor common sense means anything in Boston.

Ah, the MBTA. I recall some years ago going into town with some friends for a concert. The Red Line train broke down while underground. We had to walk out. The T rounded up some buses to complete the run. The driver of the bus we were on seemed to have a bit of trouble handling the vehicle. Approaching one red light I thought he was going to run it when he suddenly slammed on the brakes. He was thrown against the steering wheel and jostled a bit at which point several nip bottles of whiskey dropped from his coat pocket and rolled down the aisle. We got off there.

My father actually worked for the T for 20+ years. He'd come home with about three stories like this a week!

No personal story behind that particular picture. (Although I bet the story behind it IS a beauty!) Just posted it for illustrative purposes.

HOWEVER...he'd often share stories of drivers stealing fares, getting in accidents when driving the bus off its route to run personal errands.....and then the union would get them on janitor duty rather than have them get fired.

I remember one story he told of a driver pulling his bus into a supermarket lot to pick up a few things, and ended up running over a kid!

And we can't forget the transgender train operator that caused a train wreck when it was texting its girlfriend while the train was moving.....
