(CBS) SEBASTIAN, Fla. - A Florida state attorney says the charges against Kaitlyn Hunt, an 18-year-old high school student who engaged in a same-sex relationship with a 14-year-old classmate, will not be dropped, despite petitions from the public, CBS affiliate WTSP reports.
Hunt has been expelled from Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Fla. and is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years of age as a result of the relationship.
The case began in February when Hunt was arrested and charged after the younger girl's parents notified authorities, reportedly when Hunt turned 18. Since then, the story has garnered national attention for what some say is a gay rights issue.

I read other articles on this story and I’m a bit confused. Did the 14 year old not want to participate or did she just tell her parents or did they get caught? I know it’s a crime either way, I was just wondering about the specifics.

So many are now admitting preying on kids is part of homosexuality.
Why should they be dropped? Can lesbians not commit statutory rape?
This is a story involving a minor. Unless the kid blurts it all out on purpose in the media it would be inappropriate to report.
Lets minimize the damage to the fourteen year old and not demand details not volunteered.
Sounds to me that they’re saying that sexual identity is NOT an excuse for predatory behavior. Sound ok in my book...

Diversity has probably that side too.
Diversity rape is not a “rape-rape”.
If they actually waited until the girl turned 18 to charge her with anything, then you’re looking at an abuse of power. The Flori-DUH judicial system is one of the reasons I’ve always refused to consider jobs in Flori-DUH.
She needs to be thown in a cage and locked away. The same with all pedophiles.

people that would have been a little more discreet, a little more selective, a little more reflective on their homosexuality in the good old days now are just coming out and openly harming others, and themselves as well....

Wouldn't matter one damn bit. If a 14 year old girl "wants to participate" in sexual behavior with an adult, it is the adult's responsibility to not do it....

So your point is that you are upset nothing was done until it became illegal?
Kids should not be having sex together, but until one of them becomes an adult (and even then there has to be more than a three year age differential in most states) then there is little that can be done realistically.
Nor do we know if authorities were even aware before.
