Eight of 15 cities with the fastest growth in the United States are in Texas, according to the latest data released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Estimates released Thursday also show that half of those cities in the nation with the largest total population increases are in Texas. And Houston added more than 34,500 people to reach 2.2 million inhabitants — only second to New York City in total population gains in the year that ended last July.

The Central Texas town of San Marcos is the fastest-growing city in the U.S., increasing by 4.9 percent. It also surpassed the 50,000-population mark, the minimum threshold that cities had to reach to be included in the bureau's list.

Other cities with rapid population growth: Midland and Odessa in West Texas; Conroe, just north of Houston; and the Austin suburbs of Cedar Park and Georgetown, as well as Frisco and McKinney, located north of Dallas.

No other state had more than one city in the top 15 list.

~snip~

Of the 10 U.S. cities with the largest total gains, half are in Texas: Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth.

The growth is from people liberal business killing states.

Many of them do not make the connection between great cost of living and business climate and the leave me the heck alone government.

Both California and the New England liberals realize the benefits of living and working in central Texas. They have arrived and slowly entered into the political world. Austin has always been a very liberal town but I always found it to be laid back, nice people and very good looking co-eds. Homosexuals and the rest of the great unwashed are there but they haven't ruined the ambiance of the town. Just go and have fun. Now San Antonio is another story. We are changing and not for the better. More leftists are entering the city council and the mayor is on a path to liberal fame. We are spending money on projects that the majority seem to be less than enthusiastic for. The good ole boys have always had control of the city and the Hispanics have a positive contribution to the success, but the minority far left is growing and will eventually push the good ole boy manner of how things are done out and replace it with typical liberal issues and regulations.

Florida is moving left due to migrants from other States

Was not a problem when it was just retirees. Even the economically liberal were still social conservatives

It got bad when the NY Hispanics came down. Liberal voters and dependent on govt...there was an article posted recently that 37% of Puerto Rico was on food stamps. Believe it.

Then you have the Haitians and Dominicans...and other Latin Americans. More government, more Democrats

Then the state GOP moves left....ouch

Texas can stop this. First....no more RINO governors. Florida’s big mistake

It’s going to be one BAM in the Houston area if we have another hurricane like Ike. Been awfully quiet in the Gulf since he came and went. Evacuation five years ago was a mess. Lot of people who have lived here for a long time are ill equipped to deal with hurricanes, don’t even want to think about the newbies.

....and this growth would be Hispanic?????

Not necessarily. Perhaps in the southern cities. But a lot of the growth is people/companies fleeing other states to come here.

I grew up in Sherman and now live in McKinney. The northern burbs of Dallas have exploded with growth. Frisco used to be maybe 10,000 people at the most ... some neighborhoods had dirt roads. They're now at 121k.

McKinney was about 35,000 way back when. Now we're that plus 100k. Expected total growth will be pushing half a million once all areas of the city limits are populated.

There's no way those explosive numbers are from hispanic immigration.

Yes, agree about San Antonio.

I read recently that the City Council was considering a Sexual Orientation Regulation...meaning trannies could use the same bathroom as your little kids. Not sure if this has passed, yet.

The SA Mayor was raised by a La Raza founder, IIRC. His leftist views are NOT good for the city. Wake up, San Antonio!!

Agree and thanks for the warning from FL!

No RINO Govs OR legislature!!

The TX legislature is trying to stop Tea Party groups from being a force to keep out RINO's, by limiting donations these groups can make to conservative candidates. Hopefully Gov Perry will veto this ridiculous bill (SB 346).

Well, Hey Neighbor!
We're in the same neck of the woods!

BTW- I agree with everything you said. The Castro's are bad news.

Well, there goes the aquifier. This time last year, the Edwards Aquifier was around 660 acre feet of water. Today, it’s down to 640 acre feet. The drought may still be hitting hard, but the influx of more people in the San Antonio/Austin area really stresses it.

“there remain a few - statistically speaking - who are aware of America’s great legacy and value freedom.”

You betcha.

Republicans and conservatives now completely control 25 states via the legislature and governorships. Liberal, purse-carrying wimps control 11 states. Those 25 states represent more than half the population of the US.

Americans are voting right on a state level. Liberals are controlling voting booths via the Nazi Soros to illegally pour leftists into Washington.

We are heading for a classical confrontation of states vs the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington.

Good luck to us, the good guys,
