Clinton leads 2016 poll in Iowa, But Rand Paul is Close (Rubio Fading In Iowa, 19 Points Down)
Christian Science Monitor ^ | May 25, 2013 | By David Clark Scott

Posted on 05/25/2013 7:04:45 PM PDT by drewh

As far as the pollsters are concerned, the 2016 race is underway. And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is certainly acting like he's in the race.

The latest poll out of Iowa has former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton beating Florida Sen. Marco Rubio handily (48 vs. 37 percent), but could face a tougher race against Senator Paul (46 vs. 42 percent), according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University.

The poll says that Iowa voters would give the race to either Senator Rubio or Senator Paul, if the Democratic Party candidate was Vice President Joe Biden.

"In general Sen. Paul appears to be the better GOP candidate at this point in Iowa. Part of the reason may be the publicity from his recent high-profile visit to the state, but more likely is that he begins with a solid base of support - the folks who voted for his father in the 2008 and 2012 caucuses."

As The Christian Science Monitor reported, Rand Paul was in Iowa two weeks ago, and was popular among Republicans.

In a recent survey of [only] the registered Republican voters in Iowa, Paul won 39 percent of the vote with Marco Rubio next in line at just 20 percent. (Among Democrats, Hillary Clinton won 43 percent with Vice President Joe Biden winning 27 percent.) Earlier this year, Paul won a straw poll vote at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

At a Monitor-sponsored press gathering last month, Paul said he would not decide whether to run before 2014. Meanwhile, he’s just unique enough among the GOP field – and just different enough from his father – to keep drawing attention.

I don't know what Rubio started smoking, but he is dead now. A younger McCain.

Surprised he was corrupted so soon.

Rand Paul is running against Hillary? Well, I always said that the Democrats need primary challengers and that Ron Paul should’ve been more vocal about the problems with Mr. Obama’s record rather than strictly some of the GOP contenders (oddly not Mitt Romney’s record). Good to see his son setting up camp in the other party.

This is bad news for Hillary and the Dems. Once Hillary starts to run, she will drop like a rock. The only reason she is popular is that she really doesn’t do anything and once she starts to talk, it will be over.

A Hillary run for President may be a non-issue.Her next stroke will likely kill her,if she follows the patern set by her father.

He always was. People just chose to ignore his liberalism as usual. Now they are shocked...SHOCKED to see that he wasn’t pretending.

And the fact he has ANY support shows people still ‘want to believe’.

Christie is still the dark horse, he will wait and stalk Paul/Rubio and try to steal the nomination at the last minute.

She's already served two terms as unelected "co-president". Would Bill Clinton be able to serve 1 more term as a "co-president" after 2 elected terms as president? He's already said (during the 2008 campaign cycle) that he'd sit in on meetings if Hillary asked him to.

Time to get the eligibility question settled NOW before more Democrat runarounds of the Constitution.

Yep. Rubio might as well become a permanent member of the 8 Gangsters. Because he screwed the pooch. He will never be President.
And if someone is foolish enough to pick him as a Vice President, that
ticket will lose BigTime.

Rubio should have kept his powder dry. It's a long way back from amnesty and primary voters will not have shot memories on that issue...

You are good at this Pd, I agree 100%.

Remember as SofS she ALWAYS disappeared whenever something went wrong and assigned lackey underlings to get on TV and explain the bad news.

But this time it has caught up with her. It took time but she is gone from State and those remaining there and in WH have to save their own behinds. Look how Dems feel it necessary to yell at the IRS on TV for show.

I’m more inclined to say she’ll drop when people see her on T.V. They’re no doubt looking back to her young years as first lady, forgetting that she now looks like that crazy aunt who got four of your friends killed and then said “what difference does it make?”. You know the one.

Hill is over the hill, and she’ll never be on the Hill again. Besides, Cuomo is going to present himself as the next leftist fanatic. You can tell from his recent put-down of Weiner that he is trying to keep his closet clean in preparation for 2016.

The same thing is true about Sen. Bob Casey (Jr) of Pennsylvania. The thing was, he was never required to talk. He road his father's coattails to win the election.

It’s meant to keep voters busy and give them hope - so their minds are off the present or it doesn’t matter because ‘change’ is coming.

And when I see a poll, Dick Morris comes to mind.

Cuomo, All the good looks of his father and none of the intelligence or charisma. NO WAY Cuomo gets the nomination and he would get crushed in the general.

A New York Liberal. He would lose 45 states if not more.

Lots of people will hold their nose to vote for the slick black guy, but the ugly loud mouth New Yorker. I doubt it!

I think you may have too much faith in those light blue states. They’ll vote for whichever leftist troll is on the ballot. Heck, they’d probably vote for Weiner in a presidential race. These people are beyond brainwashed. As long as it’s (D), it’s handouts for me!

Cuomo’s slogan could be “Rope and Change”.

You’ll need the rope to hang yourself in the event that he gets elected.

Christie had gastric banding so at the present rate, he should look human by the 2024 election. He's running for VP in 2014. All we need is a decent presidential candidate....

I know it's rude to say it, but if you just look and listen to Cuomo, you can tell he'll never be president. He doesn't believe it, but it's obvious.

Biden had brain surgery twice, so bring a few fries short of a Happy Meal shouldn't stop Hillary. She's the one that worries me. The press covered up the fact that Roosevelt couldn't walk, they won't have any trouble covering up the fact that Hillary can't think.
