"stopped to pick up debris that had been deliberately placed in the roadway"

We can take a fuller description of the offending material("debris").

Sorry to hear this. Deliberately targeting cops, gang initiation? Organized crime?

Very odd really. Unless they had literally blocked the road there’s no reason to expect a cop to stop and pick it up let alone know when.

I guess it could be anything but organized crime was the first thing I thought of too.

Yes it is odd because a lot of civilians will stop and get debris off the road too.

A guess would be they knew he was coming and put it there just beforehand but who knows?

He was a pretty good baseball player. He was in the Cincinnati Reds farm system for a few years before he became a police officer.

Supposedly, they’ve found 12-gauge shotgun shells on the hill where the shooting allegedly occurred. It’s an odd situation.

Yeah I’ve seen similar behavior and I’ve seen cops swerve around trash in the road and keep on going.

odd situation ... another of a long list of what to look out for. First time have read of someone using trash as a plant for an ambush. Something maybe missing in the article.
