Mo. Gov. May Allow Gun Control Nullification to Pass Without His Signature
The New American ^ | 26 May, 2013 | Joe Wolverton, II, J.D.

Posted on 05/28/2013 5:41:34 AM PDT by marktwain

In less than two weeks, Missouri could join Kansas in enacting a state law refusing to enforce federal gun control measures.

On May 22, the Second Amendment Preservation Act (HB 436) was sent to Governor Jay Nixon. As of this writing, Nixon, a Democrat, has not indicated whether he plans to veto or sign the bill.

Earlier this month, both houses of the Republican-controlled state legislature passed the bill by an overwhelming majority.

When asked about Governor Nixon’s intention, a source inside his office told The New American that in an effort to avoid multiplying the several scandals already plaguing his administration, Nixon would likely let the bill sit on his desk without signing or vetoing it, thus allowing the measure to become law without his participation.

A scandal-plagued Nixon administration? Who’da thunk?

Run him out on a rail next election, Missouri!

Gov. Nixon is term-limited and can’t run for Governor again. Reportedly, he has/had aspirations to run for President in 2016 - I don’t know how all of the current scandals will impact that prospect.

Nixon is a dyed in the wool raging liberal and does not reflect the outstate citizen of Missouri. He identifies with the liberal hellholes of St. Louis and Kansas City.

This is all very well BUT Obama HAS national gun confiscation ALREADY!!!!

SORT OF. If you can’t buy ammo for your gun, you just have an expensive club. And, so far, the opposition in COngress has done NOTHING to stop this bastard from ordering his departments and divisions to suck up every bullet manufactuered in the U.S.

Fine by me. His failure to sign the bill says he is powerless to stop it, in the face of majority opposition and he is too weak to argue for its failure or at the least, act Clintonian and make the case for changes and then co-opt the bill as his own.

Further still, it give ambiguity that he may in fact support it but, can’t sign it given his own party’s objections.

Still, a lack of signature has the effect of endorsement and that’s fine by.

It’s a lose-lose for him and a win-win for us. He could have improved his standing in light of the current scandals.

This covertly signals he is just plain weak.

The 1997 Prinz v. U.S. decision is pretty clear.

You know, this simply isn’t true. I just purchased ammo from my local gun store and the owner told me that when you look at the ammo supply as a whole, it isn’t the government that’s impacting the civilian supply but rather civilians hoarding. His information is that while the government does have large supply contracts for ammunition, that they are call off contracts that provide for stable pricing for a certain quantity of ammo over a specified time period. But it is true that all the hype about the “shortage being caused by the government” has caused people to go into panic buying. You could announce a pending national toilet paper shortage tomorrow and the store shelves would be bare by the end of the day. Just human nature.

The thing that makes me doubt this, is that if you go on line and want to buy any kind of common round, they often don;t even take backorders - they are all sold out.

That leads me to believe that SOMETHING is between the buyers and the producers diverting the products.

And that something can only be Obama. In the light of all the other scandals rupturing out of Washington, there is no doubt in my mind he is behind somoe of this. We know he immediately ordered the miltary to start crushing its barss when he took office, instead of making it available to the public as i the past.

Missouri ping

Low volume ping list

FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.

That's fine. If Nixon doesn't want to participate then that will come back to haunt him if he runs for any national office.

Thanks for the ping. I guess Nixon wants to be able to claim a position on each side of this issue.
