Obama Plans 3 Nominations for Key Court
NYT ^ | May 27, 2013 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR

WASHINGTON —

President Obama will soon accelerate his efforts to put a lasting imprint on the country’s judiciary by simultaneously nominating three judges to an important federal court, a move that is certain to unleash fierce Republican opposition and could rekindle a broader partisan struggle over Senate rules.

In trying to fill the three vacancies on the 11-member United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit at once, Mr. Obama will be adopting a more aggressive nomination strategy. He will effectively be daring Republicans to find specific ground to filibuster all the nominees.

White House officials declined to say who Mr. Obama’s choices will be ahead of an announcement that could come this week, but leading contenders for the spots appear to include Cornelia T. L. Pillard, a law professor at the Georgetown University Law Center; David C. Frederick, who often represents consumers and investors at the Supreme Court; and Patricia Ann Millett, a veteran appeals lawyer in Washington. All three are experienced lawyers who would be unlikely to generate controversy individually.

A third party would be great if this were the year 1900.However if you analyze what went wrong with our party its easy to see that a third party will suffer the same demise just about the time it gets big enough to be consequential.

IMHO,Its near impossible for any party not to compromise to get bigger. Once you start compromising and quitting when you don't get your way or the wrong person gets the nod, well its the beginning of the end.

The only hope is to throw the rinos out and take back the Republican party as a conservative party.

Probably won't happen quickly.

For the record, Barry has already had 169 federal judges and 89 out of 90 US Attorneys confirmed by Dingy Harry and the girls and boys in the Senate.

Conservatives have a great chance of taking back the Senate in 2014.

Here's to hoping that is so! Dingy Harry can go back to NV and pound sand, they must have a lot.

We need ALL hands on deck and I do not mean forming a circle and shooting towards the center. The ONLY election that matters right now is 2014 and we need as many Americans voting for TEA Party candidates that we can get to do so. We need to rid the Senate and House of people like mccain, graham, boehner and a cast of dozens. We cannot win if we are pissing off the very people that we are attacking. We can't change 2012 but we can certainly change 2014... and I am doing everything that I can to see Conservatives sweep these midterms.

I agree and you are correct about lots of blame... but 2014 is the only election that we need to worry about right now. Either the gop steps up by going back to their true roots and giving up on the DC big government progressive version they have clung to or they will go the way of the Whig Party... and truthfully... if these times were not as dangerous as they are... now would be the time to take them down. We do not have that luxury but we do have the power to reduce the number of dim lites in the republican party in DC and we can start to do that in 2014.

WHen does Lindsey Grahamnesty next stand for re-election? I’d love for Trey Gowdy to take him out!

.....Ooouuh, looks like Graham will be on the ballot in ‘14. Go get him, Trey. I wonder if Gowdy has expressed interest in running for Senate?

Me as well LLS and now is the time to be cultivating all those conservatives for the right races. We need to meet with Palin and others to see to it that we get the right people elected.

Now comes word that DoJ went judge-shopping so they could spy on James Rosen of Fox News without telling him. Two judges said no, then they tried a third, and got the desired result.

This is the ultimate consolidating move of any dictatorship. Taking over the judiciary makes the dictator practically untouchable.

I agree Rod and I know that Palin is involved as well as the TEA Party in several forms. I hate to say it but we need two new conservative Senators in Mississippi to replace the progressive cochran and wicker... cochran more so than wicker but both are trent lott trainees.
