Boy Scouts never lost a case not changing their views. They changed them stupidly, voluntarily. But a court never forced them to.
Same with any private group. They can set membership requirements, period.
You reap what you sow ......
I’m sure that you’re very proud of your sons. They learned a hard life lesson, at a very early age.
True story from my wife. 1st grader at school today:
Teacher: “Why are you sad?”
Student: “I can’t go to scouts.”
Teacher: “Why is that?”
Student: “The church won’t let us meet.”
Teacher: “Why not?”
Student: “Because the scouts don’t believe in baby Jesus any more.”
This little cub scout nails it.
And so - it begins ...
Drip ... Drip ... Drip ...
I posted this last week. I don’t know anything about the organzitation but I liked what the founder had to say:
The founder of this organization has a VERY impressive resume. I have high hopes for them and will be praying for them.

Yep, it's too soon to make a decision like that, but that's what I'm leaning towards. Seeing the storm clouds on the horizon earlier in the year, I started getting my feet wet in all of political mechanations. I'm also "the new guy", so I'm still feeling out the rest of the troop.
It's a small group, informal, and not as strongly faith based, but the parents are active and interested and really want to make the right decisions for their kids. It's not just a drop-off babysitting service for single moms, every Monday evening. That's why I'm not as concerned as others about the "gay youth scouts", or whatever you'd like to call it. People who are there just to score social and political points would get weeded out very quickly, I think. Peer pressure, both at the kid and adult level, can be a pretty good thing, at times.
I feel for those troops who don't have the active parent participation - those who just have single moms, or grandmoms, or whoever, that drop their kids off once a week and get the occasional trip in. They're going to attract predators like bees to honey. Absolutely -nothing- good can come from any of this, IMHO.
On one of the earlier threads about the Boy Scouts, someone said that the Boy Scouts of America have sole right to the name “scouts”—no one else can have it in their name. (Well, the Girl Scouts...but they may have a similar monopoly on names for organizations for girls.)
Eight major studies of identical twins in Australia, the U.S., and Scandinavia during the last two decades all arrive at the same conclusion: gays were not born that way.

I agree. I have been using this series of events and our withdrawal from the BSA as a teaching of “Brave” for my son. Takes courage to stand up for what is right in the face of evil.
“Obviously the Boy Scout leadership gave no thought to the young men they would be hurting as a result of their poorly thought-out decision.”
I respectfully disagree.
I’m sure they not only gave it thought, but were amused at the prospect of trashing traditional, wholesome American family values. They see boys as little more than objects to be groomed for future sexual encounters.
As I predicted just after this vote...The rankswillbe shrinking and very noticably...
It surprised me that the ranks of Eagle Scouts did not stand up and be counted in this debacle...
Kinda diminishes theire accomplishments...They should be ashamed of what has happened to their organization
Congrats to this Church!
I hope many more follow suit.
I suspect Michael Moore, Marion Barry, Mayor Bloomberg, Russ Carnahan, Steven Spielberg, etc would be in favor anyway.....
The Roman Catholic church will stop supporting the BSA. That’s a whole bunch of scouts. I see no other course. Active catholics will make sure of that.
What’s unfortunate is that many christian church’s will abide by these new rules. The episcopal church for one.
I hope a lot of churches drop sponsorships and I hope a LOT of families pull their kids out.
