The House Judiciary Committee is investigating whether Attorney General Eric Holder lied under oath during his May 15 testimony on the Justice Departments (DOJ) surveillance of reporters, an aide close to the matter told The Hill.
The panel is looking at a statement Holder made during a back and forth with Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) about whether the DOJ could prosecute reporters under the Espionage Act of 1917.
In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material -- this is not something Ive ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy, Holder said during the hearing. However, NBC News reported last week that Holder personally approved a search warrant that labeled Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen a co-conspirator in a national security leaks case.

Well, good to know that the investigation isn’t entirely in Holder’s hands!
H0lder lied, Elian went back to Cuber.
Oh, maybe they will put him under contempt. Oh, wait, they already did. Bet he worried now.
Excuse me if I have NO faith in our Congress doing anything about any of this corruption.
I’m sure he will recuse himself from the DOJ investigation. /s
This will go exactly nowhere with the gutless Republicans handling things.
What difference does it make? It was only about suppressing the vote of political opponents of his life long pal,and boss, during a Presidential campaign!
They’re going to order Attorney General to arrest Holder, wait and see!
Catching a glipse of another dream!
The ‘r’ card gets played in 3..... 2..... 1.....
yep .. there is no bias here.
How long will this “investigation” take?
A normal person could “investigate” this in about 10 minutes and have enough time left over to eat a dozen Dunkin Donuts.
Holder is looking out for “his people”.
whatever he said, everyone lies about it. #demospeak
“of course Witholder lied. “
He may have an out, the questioner was Hank (Guam is Capsizing) Johnson, that Mensa from somewhere in the South (to the South’s everlasting shame). Ole Hank has a good day when he can get up, relieve himself and tie his own shoes!
BTW, do you think Hank and Maxine Waters date?
in this world America must be strong ... We Are!
If the prosicution is investigating itself, due the the fifth amendment, would they be forced to not present the case? Or would the prosicution go ahead and ask all the right questions, but then not be allowed to use the answers?
So what if he did?
Does Holder lie? Is his mouth moving?
Does Holder lie more than Obemba? Which one talks faster?
They make CBC babies.
“BTW, do you think Hank and Maxine Waters date?
Thought he was dating Cynthia McKinney.
“BTW, do you think Hank and Maxine Waters date?”
I just threw that out there, but one thing is certain, the average IQ of the House goes up measurably when those two are away, it’s even better when the “Lee Sisters (TWB Barbara and Sheila) are on “sabbatical.” I have rocks in my garden that are smarter than the lot of them.
Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise. Thanks.
What’s to investigate? Just go to the video tape.
Well, here’s where the word parsing will come in. He’ll say that going after Rosen was about potential prosecution for SEEKING classified material, not disclosing it.
I may be wrong, but I think there is a different kind of word parsing that went on. I believe Holder said he did not know of anyone who wanted to PROSECUTE members of the press.
He didn’t. He was INVESTIGATING a reporter. His out is that his warrant declared the reporter as an “unindicted co-conspirator”; he wasn’t indicted, so he was not being prosecuted, just investigated.
So ... Holder didn’t lie, he just misled.
Same as Obama, when asked if anyone in the White House knew of the IRS investigations, replied that he personally just found out about it from the press reports. He did not admit that his chief of staff and attorney knew; he just misdirected.
[”...... First, kill all the lawyers...”]
Actually, I saw Obama asked when he learned about the IRS tar getting of conservatives, but he answered by telling when he allegedly learned of the IG’s report. So he answered a different question than what he was asked.
“General Holder, Did you ever receive any money, securities, real estate or any other renumeration as a result of recommending pardon for the criminal Marc Rich?”
For old times sake
...and his misleading answer screams that he knew, but he’s not worried about the press catching on.
He didnt. He was INVESTIGATING a reporter. His out is that his warrant declared the reporter as an unindicted co-conspirator; he wasnt indicted, so he was not being prosecuted, just investigated.
Correct. This is not perjury. Holder spoke first to a question regarding prosecution. He spoke later to a question regarding investigation. The cops can gather all sorts of evidence under warrant from the property of a person who in no-way is the target of prosecution.
Now... if we can find a DOJ internal informant who knew that Rosen was himself a target for prosecution, and not merely the holder of evidence related to a separate targeted person, then circumstances will have changed.
By the way... we need to stop thinking and talking as if "journalists" employed by a "news" organization somehow have greater or distinctly different Constitutional protections than other citizens. They do not. Or at least they shouldn't. Plumbers have IDENTICAL rights as journalists. Both can gather news, investigate news, and report news.
