An Arizona mother of seven will be back in court on Wednesday as a judge weighs whether she will go free or remain behind bars in Mexico, her family said.

It's a situation Yanira Maldonado's family said she never imagined when she boarded a bus to head back to the United States last week after attending a family funeral in Mexico.

Now she's facing drug-smuggling charges after authorities said they found 12 pounds of marijuana under her bus seat.

Her family vehemently denies the charges and accuses Mexican authorities of arresting her to get bribe money.

A Mexican state official also believes Yanira Maldonado was framed.

This was being discussed on the Phoenix based KFYI (550 AM) Barry Young show this morning. Barry claims that there are security videos showing this lady boarding the bus without any packages.

50/50 whether she is guilty or innocent.

Argument for innocent: Mexico is hopelessly corrupt.

Argument for guilty: How hard would it be to smuggle 12 lbs of cocaine on a bus. It fits in a couple of shoe boxes.

Another argument for guilty: I've seen way too many of these where a lot of dumb or greedy people get talked into being first time drug mules and get caught.

Does she have US citizenship? Not that that matters one iota.

There are about 1000 reasons why I’ve *never* set foot in Mexico and *never* will.Right near the top,importance-wise,is that it’s reasonable to assume that *every* cop,*every* soldier,*every* lawyer,*every* prosecutor,*every* judge and *every* politician in the country is one the take....is crooked as a corkscrew.

She’s now saying:

“I used to tell people, ‘Come to Mexico. It’s not true what they’re saying. I go every year to visit my family. … I come, I drive myself, nothing happens.’ … Look what’s happening to me now. I cannot say that anymore,” Maldonado explained. “I don’t want anybody to go through this.”
