Why liberals insist living in our cities is better and safer than suburban living
Coach Is Right ^ | 5/30/2013 | Emma Karlin

Posted on 05/30/2013 6:55:24 AM PDT by IbJensen

One constant we have experienced under the reign of Barack Obama has been government and non-governmental agency (NGO) lies and distortions about the statistical state of our nation. Believing the unemployment numbers, for instance, has become an exercise in suspension of disbelief. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has used a fabricated dysfunctional formula for counting our unemployed neighbors for so long that people have forgotten they are being lied to, if they ever knew the difference.

Recently a new insidious lie was quietly slipped into the public area. Under cover of Obama’s multiple scandals the Brookings Institute, a reliably liberal NGO, proclaimed there are now a million more poor people in our suburbs as compared to our cities.

Our suburbs are being called “ghost towns” to make the lie work and give the appearance that Americans coming back to our cities. This and the other lies about crime and poverty in our suburbs being greater than in our cities serve the great “good” in the sycophant Leftist mind. These lies not only attack the governance of suburbs which are more likely to be conservative and Republican; but they promote and perpetuate the lie that liberalism works and makes our lives better and safer. The truth is that there is nothing true in the Left’s assertion of a better life in our cities. Our suburbs are growing not shrinking. The truth is that the latest demographics show that 75% of those living in our 51 major metropolitan areas live in its suburban portion.

Urban poverty rates are 20.9% versus 11.4% in our suburbs and more likely getting worse.

FBI data shows that cities suffer 3.4 times the amount of violent crime suburban areas experience.

Clearly, the suburbs are not shrinking; do not have more poverty and do have less crime than our cities. So why the lies? A good guess would be a Goebbels-like attempt to spray perfume on the stink holes that decades of Democrat rule have made our cities. How else can the Left explain away Detroit, a city infected by Democrat liberalism?

“Every city is a paradise comrade so shut up and pay your taxes.”

After nearly fifty years of the war on poverty and a trillion dollars spent we have accomplished nothing. How about something radical like personal responsibility? I am not your Daddy.

Thanks to Lyndon Bird, the negro father that used to sit proudly at the head of the dining room or kitchen table to eat the food that his wife prepared using his hard-earned wages is no longer there. He was murdered by the 'Great Society' which has turned a very large segment of the population into a filthy, crack using, government money grabbing, sexual animal that procreates with multiple mates and hasn't married any of them.

The 'Great Society' is the diseased society.

Thanks Democrats and Progressives and their fellow communist travelers. Let's get Hillary elected in 2016 and finish off this doomed nation.

Biblical history shows that God’s plan was for people to live on the land, and not clustered up in cities.

I feel a bit convicted, living on the edge of a city on some farm acreage, because I’m comparing myself to Lot, living in a tent towards Sodom.

Anyone who has ever spent any amount of time in a first world Asian city (Japan, Singapore or even Korea and Taiwan) marvels at how functional they are compared to your typical American large city once you get away from the glitzy downtowns and tourist areas.

The entire difference can be explained by family structure. Asian cities have them, out cities don't.

I lived in Japan for 14 years and walked through city neighborhoods far more densely populated than anything we have in the United States. Typically, the loudest sound I would hear would be some kid practicing their piano lessons in one of these rabbit hutch sized flats three floors up.

This is almost impossible to believe now, but there actually was a time in America when the cities were "civilized" and civil, and the hinterlands were dangerous. Remember the Old West? Back then eastern cities really were safe . . . and religious.

But then, that was back in the days when "left wing reformers" crusaded against gambling, prostitution, and alcohol!

The Marxist/Leftist ruling class in America wants the suburbs and the countryside to itself. That’s why they want everyone else corralled into the decaying cities of America. These liberal elitists want to play “lord of the manor.” They see themselves as some sort of nobility that has to be genuflected to. The want vast estates surrounded by thousands of acres so as to separate themselves from the unwashed masses.

Sending jobs overseas also added to his demise. I would say that jobs were purposely sent overseas because an increasing number of black men were being hired and becoming part of the middle class. And this would eventually upset the white upper class power structure as successful middle class black men climbed the power ladder and would eventually become leaders. Those in power couldn’t have that, thus the reason for the Great Society to wage war on society and prevent blacks especially and a majority of low income others including whites from having hope that they might suceed through hard work. Along with jobs, morals and virtue are what make a society successful. Remove morals and virtue then who needs jobs, remove jobs and hope then despair can destroy morals and virtue.

You’re daft if you think urban living is what is keeping certain urban populations poor. Just take a look at their poor cousins, still in the Mississippi brush, who didn’t move to Northern cities for work.

I agree, statists want to herd us into cities and onto public transportation for control and resource management, but there is truth to creeping poverty in more suburbs—caused by the Obama economy.

If the RATS can force everyone to live in the city they can control your life.

City water and sewer systems. Illegal to drill your own well or septic system.

Public transportation. They can tax you out of your auto and remove parking spaces.

They can even make it illegal to do your own home repairs.

You have to conform to their every wish or you can't survive. They can shut off your heat and elec, your water and septic, and even limit your means of transportation.

Screw the cities and the central planners, I do whatever I want and they can't control me.

If I want to put a rifle range in my yard ( I did) I can. If the power goes out I can fire up the wood burner and a generator.

I can raise/grow my own food and hunt and fish on my property without asking anyone for permission or buying permits.

I'll bet its a lot more than a trillion dollars spent. I've seen estimates of $750 billion per year in Federal outlays just to provide financial/program support for the 'families' created by our 41% illegitimate birth rate. Hard to go through the budget program by program and mine this kind of data though?

These liberal elitists want to play “lord of the manor.”

In 2001, I published a book on this trend, calling them "personal baronies." If you look at it carefully, the trend is the reverse of what happened to feudal Europe.

They learned their lesson.

For those who are religious, these pending urban prisons are effectively death traps, exactly pursuant to the curses of Leviticus 26. There is a biblical counter-strategy that is in Lev. 25 and Ex. 23:11. That's the second book.

NYC’s population is somewhat stable but it would be declining if it wasn’t for massive turd world immigration. When the housing bubble crashed the mainstream media predicted white people would ditch their cars and move back into the cities. They were wrong. Leftism’s mental model of reality is so warped that whatever they predict the opposite will happen.

You really believe jobs were sent overseas because black people were working, and the white men didn't want them rising to power?

It would seem to me the unions were much more to blame than any racial issue. The unions kept demanding more and more, and companies just couldn't afford it. I don't see race entering the picture at all.

I think that's a romantic myth on both sides. New York City had murderous gangs in the 19th century, and contrary to myth, there wasn't a daily shoot out in every saloon and town square in the New Mexico territory.

Some of the rather colorful history of my home state confirms this.

My great grandfather settled where he did because the remnant of the Indian tribes were safer than the ranchers. As a 14 old boy, that was something his older brothers made him understand.

Respectfully, I think that you're both wrong on this one.

While both of your theories are certainly plausible, I believe that the simplest explanation is the most likely.

It's just a question of money. Companies could send blue-collar work overseas and get an acceptable product for 10c on the dollar.

Now is the product quality the same? That's dubious. But 'acceptable' will work as far as companies are concerned, so long as consumers continue to purchase what they're selling.

Why liberals insist living in our cities is better and safer than suburban living

I don't really care what Liberals think or do. Or what happens to them. They choose their lifestyles, their leaders, their tax structure, their domestic corruption. They get what they allow.

Our criminal statistics are a joke; "Protected" groups are not reported, and what data there is gamed to appear as favorable as possible; if the metropolitan numbers are worse, they report the core city numbers, and vice versa.

New York City? St. Louis? Miami? Chicago? Detroit? Cleveland? Baltimore? Baltimore? Memphis? Atlanta? Buffalo? San Francisco? Los Angeles? Seattle? Oakland? Richmond (CA)? You can have them!

So much for Hussein transparency! This Expect More site graded All Federal Programs by department. All Thousands of them. Can’t have troublemakers verify that at least half of decades-old programs got failing grades! AND WE STILL HAVE MOST OF THEM!!

There should be a 10% tax on rent. But only on the first 2 months. The cities will grow fat because the majority can’t leave.

There are 2 million apartments in NYC. If the average apartment costs 500 a month(going low due to low income housing) the first 2 months would bring in 100 per apartment or 200 million a year.

Surprised the rats haven’t figured that one out yet.

They could say its for the children.

In the cities liberals dominate economic, political and thug power and that is why they want everyone living under them in cities.

As we see in Chicago and Philadelphia, it is very dangerous for whites to live in liberal city land due to their love of diversity racism. They permit gangs of racists to attack whites with no or extremely low and just for show, consequences.

They consider whites, outside the liberal ruling class, to be their economic, political and social enemy. They discriminate against whites in opportunity and they beleive, as Holder told Congress, that whites have lessor rights as a race than do Blacks. He explained this to Congress as they investigated the Democrats using the Black Pathers to racially intimidate at the polls in Philadelphia.

I visited a friend in Morehead Kentucky, and almost bought land there (cheap), in 1995. The president of the bank there told me the average household income there was 16K at that time. By national standards, they were “poor”. I knew of people in Kalifornia on unemployment and welfare making more than that.

There was no grafiti in town, no gangs, no slums, and fairly low crime. (A little moonshine makin’ going on). One of the biggest lies told is that poverty is the cause of crime.
