Skip to comments. With Bachmann not running, Jim Graves pulls out of 6th District race
Posted on 05/31/2013 8:32:34 AM PDT by ButThreeLeftsDo
As of today, Jim Graves is going to indefinitely suspend his campaign for Congress from the 6th District.
Translation: He is not running. He is dropping out of politics to concentrate on his family and his business.
Basically, after all thats gone on, and with Michele Bachmann now stepping down, Ive been talking to my friends and family and frankly, the feeling is, Mission Accomplished. She wasnt representing the people of the 6th District appropriately, and now she wont be representing them. Theres no way anyone could run and win who would be worse than Michele Bachmann. So we accomplished that task.

What party is he, Democrat? Article didn’t say, as far as I can tell.
Is there an excellent conservative available to run in that district? Another RINO in Congress would please the Corruptocrats and their lapdog media, but it’s not what we need in Congress.
Dem. Ran and lost to Bachmann in 2012.
So Graves is saying he was only running for congress out of personal spite?
Bingo. Gosh, I’ll bet he would have made a great congressman...
Found a Franken twin to run?
I heard a Dem strategist talking about Bachmann’s announcement. She said, when a politician announces this early that they are pulling out, it basically means that they know they can’t win. I wonder if she would say the same thing about Graves.
That’s what it sounds like.
Tarryj Clark, the perpetual losing carpetbagger will probably move into the district in time to run.
What a loss to the people of Minnesota!!!!BHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!BHAAAAAAAA!!!
Is Harold Stassen still available?
I always feel the need for a shower after visiting MINNPOST
Thanks. Local newspapers assume readers outside their immediate geographical area know the background. Often, with some place names, we don’t even know which state the story took place.
YES. I heard him on the radio program the other day, and callers were encouraging him to consider this. I think he would win the contest easily.
the only thing she hasn’t changed yet is her gender.
bet that would get her even more dem votes.
“DR NO” would be great (Phil Krinkie)
“Bachmann still holds the office for some 18 more months and she wouldn’t announce leaving out of fear of losing a race a year and a half away. I personally think she’s looking toward another office. If not a national office, Minnesota could sure use a better SOS.”
I believe that Michele Bachmann is looking ahead to other opportunities, also. I don’t believe for one second that she felt she would lose, or that she is considering leaving politics. This lady has much more to do. :-)
Looks like it. These creeps are such scum. They aren’t fit to shine Bachmann’s shoes.
Now what? A tame RINO?
“Tom Emmer, please answer the red telephone. Mr. Emmer, red phone.”
I’m sure that they could dig him up, in a pinch.
Another wise thing about Bachmann announcing early is that it gives people a chance to get over the idea of her running again (people do get emotionally invested) and makes fundraising for the eventual GOP candidate easier.
Ol’ Frog Face, I like to call her.
"Mission accomplished?" This idiot is so convinced of his own impact that he and he only was the cause for Bachmann not seeking reelection. He omits the rather important fact he went up against her twice and lost. She ably represented the people of MI-6 for the equivalent of two presidential terms. If anyone's mission is accomplished, it's hers.
MI-6 = MN-6
That lead was just barely under the 0.5% margin that requires a recount as opposed to one demanded and funded by a candidate. The margin of actual votes was far larger than recounts usually reverse at almost 9,000. Emmer really only had one hope going into the recount, which was that a recanvass of Hennepin County would substantially change the vote totals. Hennepin, which houses the city of Minneapolis, miscounted returns on Election Night by tens of thousands of votes. The recanvass during the recount phase didnt change the corrected totals much at all, which put an end to Emmers hopes of prevailing.
Sorry, here’s where I got the excerpt.

There is no better investment in preserving our American way of life than supporting Fr.It’s alwsy a winner.
Sounds like a opportune time to run a candidate that would make Michelle look like a moderate. Can’t hurt.
Emmer is damaged goods, unfortunately. He crushed Marx Dayton in Wright County in the governor’s race but if I lived in CD-6 (I live in CD-8), I’d be asking Phil Krinkie to run.
Thankfully, Republicans in CD-6 have a deep bench.
Though I am waiting for the first article from a national news source calling Jim Graves a ‘quitter’, like we’ve been seeing with regard to both Bachmann and Sarah Palin.
Of course, Graves actually is a quitter, having tried and failed and then dropped out.
I don't think so. He lost because he ran a lousy campaign. I didn't know who he was even until I started listening to his morning radio talk show. He's terrific.
Given the problems that any Republican has with the Minneapolis RedStar Tribune (see exhibit A: Michele Bachmann and exhibit B: Chip Cravaack), Emmer’s history and failed campaign against Governor Jim Beam make him damaged goods in my view.
It’s not that he’s not conservative and it’s not that he doesn’t do a good radio show. It’s just that I think CD-6 can do better.
BACHMANN [R]........179240 50.47% GRAVES [D]........174944 49.26% WRITE-IN .......... 969 0.27%
Even with all their sleazy undemocratic machinations, they still want to wipe out anyone they oppose by mobocracy. The battle goes on in Toronto, Canada, with a beleaguered Mayor Rob Ford being hit with everything but the kitchen sink. Liberals are absolutely everywhere, different country, same rotten tactics. I am not, of course, comparing the excellent woman legislator who is the subject of this post, with Mayor Ford. I am drawing a conclusion as to the use of any method, but the right one- the ballot box.
I listen to Tom Emmer every weekday morning.
His Campaign was terrible, but he’s the real deal & has significant knowledge.
I can only take Davis in very small doses. But I agree, Emmer is great.

“I heard a Dem strategist talking about Bachmanns announcement. She said, when a politician announces this early that they are pulling out, it basically means that they know they cant win. I wonder if she would say the same thing about Graves.”
I sure would.
He was counting on being able to run against her - she’s a liability, even in her district. Her stepping aside means we can find a good candidate, and he won’t have a chance.
No. Nancy Pelosi told him he had to run, but now that Bachmann's folded up under the heat, Pelosi will send the guy's kids back and he can get on with his life.
Be interesting to watch this race this fall .... like the other FRiends, I'd be interested to see if Michele could "anoint" another conservative to replace her and really torque the Red Witch off.
"You got my plane fare covered?"
“Any idea what Bachmann plans to pursue?”
