Congressman says Russians believe Boston bombings were preventable

Russian intelligence officials believe that if U.S. authorities had acted on warnings about Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon bombings could have been prevented, U.S. Rep. William Keating said Saturday after returning from a congressional delegation trip to Russia.

The Massachusetts Democrat, who met with Russian intelligence officials Thursday, said he was provided with details on how U.S. intelligence agents were warned in 2010 that Tsarnaev was preparing to join a terrorist cell in the southern Russian region of Dagestan, the Boston Globe reported.

Keating told reporters at Boston's Logan International Airport that a top Russian counterintelligence official told the delegation that "if we had the level of information sharing that we do now, then the bombings might have been avoided," according to the report.

He said he learned that information was sent from Russian officials to the U.S. government about Ibragim Todashev, a friend of Tsarnaev who was killed by an FBI agent in Florida on May 22 while being questioned in the bombing probe, the Boston Globe reported.

No wonder Obama had to take out *(murder)
all the intermediaries.

This was yet another attack abetted by his
pro-Islamic, pro-al Qaeda, anti American training.

“... bombings were preventable”

Yeah, but that assumes that our government agencies wanted to prevent the bombings.

I believe Obama, exerting his sense of superiority, told Putin to mind his own business when Putin gave us info on the terrorists.

We paid the price.

I consider that grounds for impeachment.

"if we had the level of information sharing that we do now, then the bombings might have been avoided,"

Horse hockey. We were warned and warned and warned and neither the FBI nor CIA did much of anything. Russia and Saudi Arabia both went out of their way to SHARE with the US. The blood of all the victims in Boston is on our government's hands.

Keating told the AP that the Russians believed Tsarnaev wanted to go to Palestine and engage in terrorist activities, but was unable to master the language.

This sort of follows what I already had in my notes:

Dec 2011 – Tamerlan attempted to go for a pilgrimage known as an Umrah to Mecca but that was the wrong time of year for such. Saudi Arabia denies Tamerlan access visa due to human intelligence developed independently from Russia in Yemen.

2012 – After Tamerlan returns, Saudi Arabia Ministry of Interior wrote a letter to warn US DHS “at the highest level” and Britain of concerns of a terroristic attack on an American city and specifically names Tamerlan and that US should inspect his mail for bomb making compontents. The joint warning also named three Pakistanis of interest to Britain. DHS and Caitlin Hayden, a spokesperson for the president’s National Security Council, deny any such warning. DHS then comes clean admitting the letter exists but because of “turf wars” between agencies, DHS may not have notified the WH.

I'm not going there, as it dabbles in the kind of speculation that drives 9/11 trutherism.

I think gross negligence and incompetence suffice as explanations, as is often the case with the fedgov.

That's one scathing article. Obama should be impeached....dereliction of duty.

Of course, he'll learn of this from watching the news.

Didn’t even need the Russian’s help. Had the PC local cops solved the 9-11 triple jihad throat slashing of 1 1/2 years earlier it would have been prevented.

It wasn’t 0bastard’s sense of superiority. It was his Islamic desire to have more terrorist attacks in the US to further the cause of Islam and destruction of the US. It’s really quite simple.

<...”I think gross negligence and incompetence suffice as explanations, as is often the case with the fed gov.”....>

I agree...but until our politicians recognize and admit there is “war” on American soil this will continue to be the case, and they won’t be changing their tune any time soon...Moslems have political clout in our very governance, laws etc...and they have already tied congressional hands....and they are infiltrating every area of society.....the barbarians have arrived!
