ST. PAUL, Minn. - One possible Republican candidate for Michele Bachmann's congressional seat is taking herself out of the running while another gets ready to announce his plans.
Bachmann's surprise decision not to seek reelection started a scramble among possible Republican successors in the right-leaning 6th Congressional District. But on Monday, state Sen. Michelle Benson of Ham Lake said she wouldn't run.

Fantastic. He’ll make a great Congressman.
Yes, he will be fantastic.
Too bad the governorship was stolen from him Al Franken-style.
Should be real interesting to see who the donkeys trot out. Tarryl Clark?
Redistricting has made that district even more solidly red. So I’d say the seat is his unless he boots it away somehow.
I’ll miss him on the radio...
Good for her.
Nice baseball analogy...
Yes. We should thank her. I admire her even more now.
For some unknown reason, I am not certain we have seen the last of Michelle Bachmann. She is too savy of a politician to back away so easily and quickly. Indeed there may be more personal reasons which we are unaware. Lets see what the future holds.
“For some unknown reason, I am not certain we have seen the last of Michelle Bachmann.”
I agree. She doesn’t seem like she is ready to pack up and go home. She strikes me more as someone who has rolled up her sleeves and is just getting started! :-)
It's a problem conservatives have got to deal with somehow.
“Ill miss him on the radio...”
Me too. I listen every morning.
Some newspaper hack was filling in for Soucheray today. Just rheming Bachmann up one side and down the other. Not enough she’s not running again. It won’t stop till her name is a dirty word in the world.
Never to me.
Looks like Tom is going to make an announcement about his political future on Wednesday.
“Some newspaper hack...”
Which one?
I didn’t listen long enough to find out.
Went to the web site. I was wrong, it was Scott Korzenowski, hack lawyer.
Scott Korzenowski. He’s a Sunday morning know-it-all. I guess he writes a sports column for somebody but he is a lawyer by trade.
