RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- About 140 people have been arrested during the latest weekly demonstration led by the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP against the state's Republican-led General Assembly.
Police estimate that roughly 1,000 people attended a rally late Monday afternoon behind the Legislative Building. Hundreds later entered the building, with those intending to get arrested wearing green wrist bands.

Did the DHS Police roll for this protest or do they only show up at the non-violent (Tea Party) ones?
How symbolic! It is also utterly meaningless.
People sure will get their lazy ass off the couch when it comes to losing their free stuff...can’t get them off the couch to go to work though.
And that will happen with the Boy Scouts, infiltrated and taken over by liberals then ruined.
If they did less marching and more working they will have a better life! That’s my opinion!
“demonstrations to protest cuts to social programs”
How DARE the Republicans cut welfare/foodstamps, social security and Medicaid. Other people worked hard for that money!
parasites can't survive without mooching off of producers.
Imagine what the rioting is gonna look like once the government can no longer afford to support these moochers cradle to grave.
Man, you said it.
Coming soon to a city near you.
Association for the
More like “National Association for the Advancement of Communist Precepts”, given what they are “protesting” over.
Alinsky’s rule #3: “Change is brought about through relentless agitation and trouble making of a kind that radically disrupts society as it is.”
Yes, that works.
In the past I believe the NAACP did some good work. Today I think it’s an organization that basically lies to his constituents and fails to teach self-support and determination to succeed.
“If you’re not making it, then someone else is to blame”, seems to be the message today.
...And the NRA was started so that black Americans could exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.......
Don’t rile those trayvon relatives! A skittle in every pot and some watermelon juice to wash it down with! Mean Lean!
I hear ya.
So police are told to only arrest green ban wearers no matter who is causing the problem?
Welfare, Voter ID, Redistricting, general budget allocations, and my personal favorite.
The Racial Justice Act.
This little beauty, passed a couple yrs. ago by a RAT legislature allows..
Convicts, primarily capital criminals to demand a new sentencing hearing based on black/white statistics.
IOW if the percentage of blacks are given death compared to whites then the black criminal can demand a new hearing.
This is regardless of the viciousness, or any other circumstances surrounding the case.
A complete and total sham.
The new Repub legislature is trying to right these ridiculous wrongs.
The RATS simply cant abide by the will of the people. Their way or the highway.
“How symbolic! It is also utterly meaningless.”
I completely disagree. It shows resolve, perserverance and a will not to be denied.
What about our side? The Gosnell trial revealed that babies and literally swimming for their lives in toilets, yet where are the protests to ghoulish infanticide? Why aren’t tens of thousands of people protesting that and the Gestapo like IRS. Like the liberal bumper stickers in Maryland used to say.........if you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention.
People in the group were going to try to identify who the officers were and where they were based. They were a new and unknown factor to all of us.
I have not heard a report about it.
It is difficult at best to remain angry for such extended periods of time; why would you want to remain in such an emotional state? Decisions made in the heat of anger are seldom good ones. IMHO.
We need to mobilize and stand up for ourselves. These people want to destroy us by taking away our rights.
One minor problem — for those of us who value the our self-defense rights — any arrest for civil disobedience would be sufficient grounds to have 2d Amendment rights revoked.
For gun owners simple civil disobedience presents a serious and difficult problem in affecting political change.
That happened to me, exactly. Two months ago I was in DC and while on the subway the possibility of a confrontation came up.
Even though I was in the right I stopped short of acting because the threat of it escalating to the point of law enforcement involvement.
Any charge against me could have had 2A repercussions.
So I just stood there, mouth shut, hands in pockets.
Interesting. You prefer to wait and fight until the bullets fly rather than exercise your legal rights now, in an effort to prevent the former.
