A church-state separation group touting its access to Defense Department officials is taking credit for the removal of a painting from an Idaho Air Force base on Friday that featured a Bible verse within an hour of making the demand.

The organization, Military Religious Freedom Foundation, has called for the court martial of military personnel for “proselytizing,” having met with Pentagon officials in the past. The group is citing this victory in Idaho as proof of its influence over the U.S. military.

The painting in the Wagon Wheel dining hall at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho showed a modern-day police officer standing in front of a medieval knight holding a flag that morphs from a medieval coat of arms into the flag of the United States of America.

The word “Integrity” is stenciled over the image, and the verse referenced is Matthew 5:9, which says, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.” …

They dare call themselves the Military Religious Freedom Foundation when they are clearly against religious freedom? It was only in the USSR that they had written constitutional articles that delineated separation of church and state.

The church-state separation group, “Military Religious Freedom Foundation,” is a bunch of two-bit SCUM BAGS.

Sounds like Mikey Weinstein’s doings. Someone needs to tell Mikey to GFY and let him go tell his friends.

Otherwise it sounds like there is a base commander with stars on his collar and a wet noodle for a spine.

They can’t champion religious freedom and be on the side of entities such as the USSR and Red China.
Citizens of the USSR are guaranteed freedom of conscience, that is, the right to profess or not to profess any religion, and to conduct religious worship or atheistic propaganda. Incitement of hostility or hatred on religious grounds is prohibited. In the USSR, the church is separated from the state, and the school from the church.
— Article 52 of 1977 USSR constitution

Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of religious belief. No state organ, public organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in, or not to believe in, any religion; nor may they discriminate against citizens who believe in, or do not believe in, any religion. The state protects normal religious activities. No one may make use of religion to engage in activities that disrupt public order, impair the health of citizens or interfere with the educational system of the state. Religious bodies and religious affairs are not subject to any foreign domination.
— Article 36 of Red China's constitution

Atheists involved in a ‘religious freedom’ group. Yet they continually claim they are not a religion.

Maybe that USAF base commander was afraid of Mikey’s narrowed eyes & conspicuously aimed fist. Who knows?

Actually, the picture is poorly drawn, so I have no problem with this.

However, the verse “blessed are the peacemakers” should be allowed as it is part of our heritage, on the same level as quoting Shakespeare.

If it were due to the picture being poorly drawn, then it wouldn’t be as much of an issue. But that is not the reason.
