SEOUL, KOREA - BMW Group Korea will build a driving center in Yeongjong Island off Incheon, 40 kilometers west of Seoul by July 2014. The company held on June 4 a groundbreaking ceremony with president Kim Hyo-joon, Hendrik von Kuenheim, senior vice president in charge of BMW Group's Asia, Pacific, and South Africa regions, and Rolf Mafael, German ambassador to Korea attending the event.

With 70 billion won in budget, the BMW Group Driving Center will be built in a site of 240,000 square meters. It will encompass a variety of entertainment and auto experience facilities as well as a 2.6-kilometer track.

BMW Group Korea president Kim said, "The center will open next spring after a pilot run and we expect more than 200,000 people will visit here in a year." Senior vice president Kuenheim said, "Koreans' high expectations for luxury products are what led BMW to choose Korea over China and Japan as the site of the company's first driving center in Asia," he said.

Buy a BMW, take delivery in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and do a day or two at the BMW Performance Driving School.
