Imus Tells Alter ‘Shove it,’ Calls Fineman ‘Sniveling Little Weasel’ and Meacham ‘Phony B*st*rd’

Fox Business’s Don Imus had a delicious trifecta Thursday trashing three perilously liberal journalists in less than 90 seconds.

After telling Jonathan Alter to “shove” his request to come on the program and hawk his new book, Imus called Howard Fineman a “sniveling little weasel” and Jon Meacham a “phony b*st*rd” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

DON IMUS: "I’m in a horrible mood because of a couple of reasons. And I don’t like it when people tell me what a great friend they are of mine, because I know it’s nonsense. And here’s, you don’t need to tell me that you’re a good friend of mine. Just be one."

"Anyway, here’s an email I got from Jonathan Alter. Remember him from Newsweek? And it begins, “Hi Don. Hope you are well. Missed you at the Skip(?) deal. I was out of town.” And then this: “I’m sorry I haven’t been a better friend and just come crawling up to your *ss when I need something, but I do need something: you putting me on your air to hawk my new book.”

Imus responds-

"I would like to now write an on-air missive to Mr. Alter. Take your book and shove it up your... You couldn’t get on this program with a certified check. You and that sniveling little weasel Howard Fineman or the phony b*st*rd Jon Meacham. Are you kidding me? Thanks, nice to hear from you. Hope you’re well. Have a great day you son of a b*tch."

Now THAT’S entertainment.

I try listening to Imus every once in a while. One day (recently) he trashed Rush for "donating all his money to his Oxycontin habit." Just yesterday I heard him suggesting jail time for baseball players who use performance enhancing drugs.

Because Rush gives his money to charities other than Imus', Imus blasted Limbaugh's former drug addiction. I found this incredibly hypocritical coming from Imus whose addictions are well known.

Listened to Imus twice in past several weeks, and turned him off twice, remembering why I never listen.

Nothing particularly stupid about the remark. A lot of the basketball team did have nappy hair.

As to the “Ho” part, that is a fair cop on the entire Rutgers student body. They are what they are.

A few months before whilst playing a game against a military academy team the Rutgers student body was echoing the chant “F@ck Navy! F@ck Navy! “ with great gusto. There are names for people who want to engage in that and Imus properly put one forth.

Not long ago a young prostitute who ran a web cam service out of his dorm room committed suicide and the university made a great show of prosecuting his roomate for uploading views of the activity on a free venue.Theft of services I guess.

You can be upset over the hair comments if you want, and I don’t like a lot of Imus’ politics or his crassness but... the basketball team never did squat to distance themselves from the immorality regularly flaunted by the student body at Rutgers so “Ho” is a fair description.

Angela Lansbury in a Cowboy Hat has a moment of clarity. Rare, and not enough to make me listen to that wrinkled up old buzzard w/ a (now aging) trophy wife.

Oh, no, not that. Iass showed his true PC colors with that one. “I call ‘em like I see ‘em! Nobody censures Don Iass! Well, except when it comes to a certain ethnic group, then I roll over like a whipped puppy.”

All hat, no cowboy.

Imus does not suffer fools, gladly or otherwise. I catch him occasionally in the morning, when everyone else is on break. Usually, I just listen for news updates or Warner Wolf.

.....but I must say the times they did the routine with the “Irish Cardinal,” I would have a minute or two of uncontrollable laughter.

Yeah Mike Barnicle, that was really funny. The only segment worth anything.
He lost me when he coerced everyone to invest in his ranch.
Now that was a scam. That and his going off the deep end with and about his vegetarian wife.

Imus got his big break after working in Cleveland as a morning host back in the late 1960's on WGAR. Then, like lots of others who worked on the NBC owned station's TV news programs, he moved on up to Rockefeller Center in NYC. He was really funny. I can still remember his mocking pronunciation of the then Mayor's name, Carl Stokes. Stokes was such a good mayor that he was succeeded by a Republican in a city that was (and still is) about 98% Democrat.

Don Imus is almost too ugly for radio.

Imus, himself is a phony B*st*rd. Would never want to be his friend.

I hear you and comments may definitely have been deserved. However, I just would prefer not to talk that way unless I address the party I am insulting directly. Keeps things simple. My point is these three had a collective case of the vapors and demanded action. Other people like you me, Hannity and a number of others felt it was not a nice remark but it was within his rights to say it...

What always amazed me is how these socialist commielibs in the media suddenly turn into raging capitalists whenever they have a book to sell or a media contract to sign.

If they truly believed the pap they spin, they should work for peanuts and give all the proceeds to charity.

These people threw him under the bus but very few people stood behind Imus and he even craps on them too.
