Rush Limbaugh Is Pretty Sure This Time That Obama's Leading a Coup D'Etat
The Atlantic Wire ^ | June 7, 2013 | Elspeth Reeve

Posted on 06/09/2013 9:34:26 AM PDT by EveningStar

There is a split among conservatives between those who think the NSA's collection of data about every phone call in America is an important counterterrorism tool, and those who think President Obama is, as usual, trampling on the constitution and the flag and the Founding Fathers. But Rush Limbaugh takes it one step further. He says Obama is leading a coup d'etat. And this time it's for real.

and the above statement is why i can no longer call myself a conservative...

i am a strict constitutionalist...

in other words, not a republican, not a conservative, but i guess i would have to be a small l libertarian...

corporate “conservatives” vs. conservatives

If you haven’t figured it out by now, according to the US government, all of us here at FR are unindicted terrorists.

“Elspeth”? At The Atlantic. You couldn’t make this kind of farce up.

The Atlantic - full of sewage, old wrecks and garbage.

I too am a strict constitutionalist

someone posted recently(and I kind of took as my own)

” I’m too conservative to be a libertarian and too libertarian to be a conservative”

kind of a definition of small l libertarian, I suppose, anyway it is my current definition of myself.

Apparently Elspeth is at least not unfriendly to paleoconservatism:

Obama IS the reason our founders warned about this kind of intrusion. Constitutional or not, we as a pepole know that Obama will use and abuse any program to his political or idealogical purposes. Gov’t can’t be trusted and Obama especially can’t be trusted.

Limbaugh used to call people who made such claims 'kooks'.

We've come a long way.

Gov’t can’t be trusted and Obama especially can’t be trusted.

But now with his database of everything about everyone, he is more powerful than the Constitution.

If anyone makes a move to bring him down, he threatens said party ala John Roberts or Gen. Petraeus until said party backs down.

No, fuddy-duddyite Republicans (and I have always been a registered Republican, not a Libertarian) confuse "libertine" and "liberal" with "libertarian" and believe that the ONLY reason anyone is a libertarian is so they can smoke dope without fear of reprisal and get as many abortions as they want without government interference.

It is truly disgusting that so many otherwise smart conservatives and Republicans fail to recognize the truth of what Ronald Reagan said about libertarianism (the declared philosophy of the great Thomas Sowell), that its limited government principle is the foundation of conservatism.

Instead, social conservatives (big government types in their own philosophy of using government to enforce morality) and too many Republicans get on their moral high horses and STUPIDLY insist on the falsehood that desire to legalize dope is the only motivation behind libertarians. *sigh* Such social conservatives out of PRIDE are poised to sacrifice American freedom in the name of moral superiority, as they refuse to accept and understand that ONLY when Republicans and Libertarians unite will we regain our Constitutional American rights and place where we can live morally (government PROHIBITS it now) and pursue life, liberty, and happiness.

Bernie McGuirk, the usually trusty outspoken one, last night, on Red Eye, said that the NSA and the CIA are different from the IRS and the group in question last week, as the NSA and CIA are not after us, they’re after the enemy, so this is a different situation.

We don’t need to worry about this.

My amazement is inconsolable.

Are people so full of crap that they read and watch that they cannot consider situations and characters wisely?

There is a split among conservatives between those who think the NSA's collection of data about every phone call in America is an important counterterrorism tool,

I don't know anyone who subscribes to this talking point. Especially among CONSERVATIVES.

This administration has already surrendered the war on terror. This administration knew and did nothing about the Ft. Hood jihadist's communications with Al Qaeda. This administration knew and did nothing about the Boston Marathon bomber's training overseas for terrorism and did nothing. This administration knew about the Benghazi terrorist plot and did nothing.

What makes anyone think that such massive data mining was strictly to "connect the dots of potential terrorists"?

Especially considering this administration flags every terrorist attack as a "protest gone wrong", a "lone wolf action", "workplace violence", etc?

Maxine Waters told us that Obama was working on a data archive on voters that few could possibly fathom. There is a split among conservatives between those who think the NSA

The fuddy duddy loser party has maligned Libertarians as kooks.

Sadly those pure libertarians are because they do not understand what the founders understood. You need a moral people who are capable of putting stops on their own behavior to have freedoms.

The one and only reason democrats have tried to destroy Christianity in this country. They understand like out founders did that once there are no believers left in the Christian and still practicing Jewish communities there will be no freedoms left because a powerful government will be needed to keep the people "safe".

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded ... on the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

—Patrick Henry

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure if we have removed their only firm basis: a conviction in the minds of men that these liberties are the gift of God?”

—Thomas Jefferson

“We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us ... to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

—James Madison

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

—Benjamin Franklin
