Environmental activist Erin Brockovich, portrayed by Julia Roberts in a 2000 movie about her fight over the pollution of a California town, was arrested on suspicion of boating while intoxicated at Lake Mead near Las Vegas, authorities said Sunday.

Brockovich was arrested late Friday night after breath tests showed her blood-alcohol level was just over twice the legal limit of .08, said Edwin Lyngar, spokesman for the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

A game warden noticed she was struggling and needed assistance while trying to moor her motor boat at the Las Vegas Boat Harbor, he said. Brockovich had been out on the boat with a male companion but was alone when she tried to dock it.

"She was not sure how to maneuver the boat into the dock," Lyngar told The Associated Press. "It's a simple thing if you can think clearly. But if you add alcohol and unfamiliarity of the area, it can all cause serious problems."

She used to be on tv commercials for some lawyer outfit here in California. Trust me, Miss Brokovich was Hollywoodized. Not all that hot in real life. Saw her in part of an interview once, saying she didn't know how PG&E had the adaucity (her pronunciation) to do what they did. She didn't come across as smart at all. And her chest didn't look like it'd open that many doors.

You obviously haven’t been around DRUNK boaters. They are just as dangerous as DRUNK drivers only on water. Boats these days are as fast as cars.

Many years ago (1997) I was on my raft with a cooler of beer floating beside me. I was probably legally drunk. A boat came my way at high speed. I think the driver must have been drunk out of his mind or blind. I rolled off my raft and headed for the bottom. The damn boat wiped out my cooler of beer and I could hear the engine and prop as it went over my head. Conclusion: I lost my beer but saved my life. That bastard driving the boat lost nothing and probably did not know he sent my beer to the bottom of Bayou Desierd. I was not pleased.
