Democrats continue to try to dismiss the evidence that Obamacare will dramatically increase the cost of insurance for people who buy it on their own. But on Thursday, the Ohio Department of Insurance announced that, based on the rates submitted by insurers to date, the average individual-market health insurance premium in 2014 will come in around $420, “representing an increase of 88 percent” relative to 2013.

“We have warned of these increases,” said Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor in a statement. “Consumers will have fewer choices and pay much higher premiums for their health insurance starting in 2014.”

“They are trying to break us and make us more pliable!”

Ohioans are extremely pliable. I have yet to hear someone complain about Obamacare. It just doesn’t enter conversation on the street. And if it’s brought up by a rabble rouser, the consensus seems to be: “Yeah, Obamacare sucks, but something had to be done.”

If Sears sold home appliance contracts on the basis they would save money but when the appliances arrived they were 88% more expensive, some of the same officials would push themselves in front of the cameras to be seen telling the public how aggressively they were going to protect them from such an unethical and greedy corporation.

When government is the one screwing you, who can you turn to? Well nobody, and that is the exact reason that we must not permit government to run health care, or anything else that a private business could be doing.

I live in Ohio... it is populated with sheeple.

The union mentality is strong... and unbelievably dated. They are some of the most ignorant knuckleheads you ever met. They vote the straight Liberal ticket and couldn't tell you WHY if their lives depended on it!

I know...I have some relatives who don't know anything but they know Big Labor BS.

It's funny too, because they are routinely screwed by their unions and marched in lock step to vote for “O”.

What's even more scary, 100% of them are howling racist bigots... so much so that they embarrass me with their language and remarks.

Yeah, we see a lot of that here in the Pittsburgh area too. Especially down in the river valleys where Big Steel used to hold sway. The mills are gone, replaced by office parks and upscale shopping malls. Still these pinheads sit around and tell themselves the mills and all those overpaid union jobs could come back, if ONLY we’d elect the RIGHT POLITICIAN!

A very sad bit of delusion.

I'm amazed (and this is compared to MA, for heaven's sake) how much they want the government to do everything for them. They'll vote for extra taxes for the library, zoo, and community college etc, rather than pay their own way. Cleveland sets up a stupid scheme to close the major link from the west for two weeks for a movie, the people complain like crazy, but don't really do anything.

The racism? Everyone isn't racist. But it does cut all ways where it exists. And Obamacare? It's in the Ohio DNA to think that if a problem is going to be solved, the government will solve it. JMHO

It’s just so sad. Those that have seen this destruction coming will be financially destroyed right along with those who asked for it.

There are still those who would deny this and continue to vehemently assert what they believed from the beginning -

Obamacare = free healthcare on demand

Agreed. I have heard that. Unfortunately, people who will actually pay this bill don't really think these increases apply to them. They seem to think someone else is going to pay the bill. They're clueless of the negative ramifications.

The other thing I hear from my liberal family is that they think nothing has changed from Bush to Obama. Obama is tough on the terrorists, he kept Gitmo open, he's fixed healthcare (they do believe that) and taxes on the rich is the right thing to do. These "scandals" are meaningless and are strictly political attacks. The much ado about nothing on Benghazi is because we're afraid of losing to Hilary in 2016, so we're trying to destroy her.

The problem is, this is the mindset. The pansy RINOs we call republicans have to go. We need candidates which will tell it like it is...ala Ted Cruz.
