Obamacare to increase premiums in Ohio 88%
American Thinker ^ | 06/11/2013 | Rick Moran

The increase will be on plans that people buy individually. It's estimated that about 15 million of these policies will be purchased as many businesses will be dropping their group coverage and forcing their employees to buy it on their own.

These aren't numbers that are fudged, as some liberals claimed following the news from California that premiums would increase for individuals at least 25%. State after state are reporting massive increases in premiums which means it is likely that fewer people will be buying individual policies.

In Ohio, no relief is in sight:

Democrats continue to try to dismiss the evidence that Obamacare will dramatically increase the cost of insurance for people who buy it on their own. But on Thursday, the Ohio Department of Insurance announced that, based on the rates submitted by insurers to date, the average individual-market health insurance premium in 2014 will come in around $420, "representing an increase of 88 percent" relative to 2013. "We have warned of these increases," said Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor in a statement.

"Consumers will have fewer choices and pay much higher premiums for their health insurance starting in 2014." The rates that Ohio reported are proposed rates; the Department of Insurance still has to formally approve them. "A total of 14 companies proposed rates for 214 plans to the Department. Projected costs from the companies for providing coverage for the required [by Obamacare] essential health benefits ranged from $282.51 to $577.40 for individual health insurance plans."

It's called "rate shock," but it's not shocking to people who understand the economics of health insurance. In August 2011, Milliman, one of the nation's leading actuarial firms, predicted that Obamacare would increase individual-market premiums in Ohio by 55 to 85 percent.

Obamacare Will Cut Your Health Care Costs

“The Affordable Care Act takes steps to increase regulation across the health care system, attempting to lower costs and increase both quality and health outcomes.”

When people express outrage about this, especially people I know who voted for Obama, I tell them:

“This is a Stupid Tax, and it was brought about because people were stupid and voted for someone who promised a bunch of stuff with no way to pay for it.”

I suspect family coverage will soon disappear. The idea of charging three people the same amount as seven people is not going to survive contact with ObamaCare and the HHS.

Have you looked at Medicare advantage?

United Health Care here has a Medicare advntage plan that has no monthly charge but has copay up to about $4,000 out of pocket. it has drugs with you paying a part of the cost.

Ifyou are reasonably well, it is a cost effective plan

Good, those sheeple in Ohio gave us Obama not once but twice. I hope that they all go broke buying their Obamacare. And don’t get me going on their worthless “repubican” governor Kasich. “Ohio, where voter fraud is an art form!” and “Home of the largest per capita numbers of union goons.”

Do you think they’ll actually be able to hold the country together that long?

Yeah, but people will be able to keep their healthcare plans, if they want to. Add another 30 percent on for fat Ohioans who have to pay for the joy of obesity. The best thing about Obamacare is that it is destined to fail by stress of its bureaucratic weight. “Obamacare” will become a curse word damning future socialist programs.

Rate of increase

2002 to 2003 17.98 pct
2003 to 2004 14.46 pct
2004 to 2005 17.75 pct
2005 to 2006 14.05 pct
2006 to 2007 22.39 pct
2007 to 2008 10.93 pct
2008 to 2009 22.26 pct
2009 to 2010 9.04 pct
2010 to 2011 20.63 pct
2011 to 2012 9.12 pct

I am now paying just over $900/month.

My first payments, in 2001, were just over $150/month.

"Good, those sheeple in Ohio gave us Obama not once but twice."

Well, those "sheeple" that gave OH to Obama twice are the inner-city tribal parasites, plus the Illegal conjured-up votes by mail-in/driveby/inner-city black Wards that vote more than 100% of Registered Voters, same as EVERY Major City in the country that has such populations.

Democrats CONTROL every major City, and that County is over-whelmed by the Fraud and "vote for handouts" crowds.

In the next couple of weeks, when Amnesty is Passed, it will get even worse Nationwide.......

Of course you are spot on! The Gibsmedats ARE the Major Cities today, and they have their “Holder’s people” leaders. That said, they are, at one level or another, Detroits in the making. I would not live in any large city anywhere in the world today. This is what FUBO wants. Let’s move everyone to the cites where we are much easier to “control.”
