Pope Francis has acknowledged the existence of a 'gay lobby' inside the Vatican's secretive administration for the first time.

Speaking during an audience with Latin American Catholics, the Argentine Pontiff said that there was a 'current of corruption' in the Roman Curia - the central governing body of the Catholic Church.

This is going to be a real problem for the media. By definition, a “gay lobby” is the height of righteousness and truth, and—also by definition—the Roman Catholic Church is wicked and corrupt. So what happens when someone tries to say that “corrupt=gay” or vice-versa? Francis may go down in flames.

May God Bless Francis. Eliminating the gay lobby from the vatican will go a long way toward eliminating sex abusing priests from parishes worldwide.

Pray for him.

I’ve always wondered why pedophile priests and other members of the Church weren’t exposed immediately and made examples of through public excoriation. It would have deterred a lot of subsequent pedophiles, and put the Church on the clear side of rejecting such sin.

He also admitted the existence of a long-rumoured 'gay lobby' in the Curia, and hinted that he might take action over the issue.

Might?!

I am not Roman Catholic, but my understanding is celibacy of priests and nuns etc would not be merely heterosexual celibacy.

Francis may go down in flames.

You are assuming the media runs the church.

Exactly right.

He also admitted the existence of a long-rumoured 'gay lobby' in the Curia, and hinted that he might take action over the issue.

By not taking action would amount to condoning it. He darn well better take action.

Celibacy is a state of not being married. Since homosexuals CAN’T be married, then it assumes that celibacy applies only to heterosexuals. Chastity, on the other hand, is a state of sexual abstinence ....NO SEX outside of marriage. ALL Christians are called to chastity. Priests in the Roman Rite are celibate and therefore should practice continence.

Homosexuality should NOT exist in the priesthood according to the 1961 directives. Pope John XXIII outlined church policy. “Advancement to religious vows and ordination should be barred to those who are afflicted with evil tendencies to homosexuality or pederasty, since for them the common life and the priestly ministry would constitute serious dangers.”

I'm not either but in my mind, celibacy means no sex, with anything.

Well the new pope ain’t gonna last long, the media will destroy his image and he will end up having an “accident” inthe middle of the night when he steps out of his balcony and leans over the edge...

A purge of homosexual clerics would not be received well by the media.

Celibacy is a state of not being married.

Celibacy has several definitions.

cel·i·ba·cy noun \ˈse-lə-bə-sē\

1: the state of not being married
2 a: abstention from sexual intercourse
b: abstention by vow from marriage

Chastity, on the other hand, is a state of sexual abstinence ....

Chastity also has several definitions.

chas·ti·ty noun \ˈchas-tə-tē\

1: the quality or state of being chaste: as
a: abstention from unlawful sexual intercourse
b: abstention from all sexual intercourse
c: purity in conduct and intention
d: restraint and simplicity in design or expression
2: personal integrity

With regard to the consecrated life of the ordained and religious, celibacy and chastity are synonymous.
