Widow: Fort Worth Cops Were “Trigger Happy”
CBS ^ | 5.28

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A widow is seeking answers after her husband was shot and killed on his own property by Fort Worth police officers early Tuesday morning. “I think the police made a terrible mistake,” said Kathy Waller.

She said that a loud noise and bright light woke up her and her husband, 73-year-old Jerry Waller, shortly after midnight on Tuesday. He grabbed a gun and headed to the garage, she said, where Jerry Waller was then shot by police officers who were investigating a burglar alarm.

Waller thinks that the officers reacted too quickly. “Somebody just got a little trigger happy, and away they go,” she said.

Cpl. Tracey Knight with the Fort Worth Police Department explained, “He was armed with a handgun and officers feared for their safety. They felt threatened, and that’s when they shot him.”

The burglar alarm was sounding in a neighborhood next to the Woodhaven Country Club in east Fort Worth. A spokesperson with the Fort Worth Police Department said that it is not clear why the two officers who responded to the call were at the Waller home — since it is across the street from the house where the alarm went off.

C’mon jackboot lickers. Explain to the rest of us how this grossly negligent homocide by the police was justified.

The police who investigate the police who shot this man will surely rule it a justified (”they were in fear for their safety”) killing. /spit

At least they didn’t kill the dog.

Too bad Waller didn’t have a chance to kill the thugs, making the world safer for the rest of us.

Someone is sure to come on this thread and explain that since Officer Friendly “feared for his safety”, he was perfectly justified mowing the man down.

"Cpl. Tracey Knight with the Fort Worth Police Department explained lied, “He was armed with a handgun and officers feared for their safety. They felt threatened, and that’s when they shot him.” There I fixed the "typo" in the article.

[Knight said, “Officers did follow policies and procedures according to burglary alarm calls.]

That's the problem with cops today. By following “policies and procedures” they react by rote rather than thinking. They shoot friendlies every day and God knows how many dogs they kill. LEAA and other federal agencies have militarized local police forces over the last 30 years. Cops are taught to assume every citizen is armed and dangerous until proved otherwise.

This is directly tied to the Tyrannically Oppressive Unconstitutional WOD.

Our LEO's feel threatened 24/7 because they are forced by unjust laws to target the entire population.

All we have to do is lighten their load. Dump the corrupt crony cartel creation called prohibition!

People, pets, and public servants weren't routinely gunned down before prohibition! It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on American Citizens, and their public servants.

This is what I have been saying for some time. As they see us as the enemy we will have to see them as such as well. I saw a cop at the roadside wearing a Level III jacket just days ago. That says it all, IMHO. We have crossed the Rubicon.

We have more guns and are familiar with the cover and concealment of our neighborhoods. We would win.

Our public servants no longer see themselves in that light, it would seem. I asked an Active Duty 0-4 in 2007, “Eventually, you will have to decide who to protect. The People or the Politicians.”

Uh...they were on his property illegally and unannounced.

The new ROE must be, “Shoot anything that has a gun. Immediately.”

Was he pointing it at them? Did they announce they were LEOs? Did they instruct him to stop and drop the gun? Even most perps get a warning and a chance to back down.
