President Barack Obama said Tuesday that America “owes” it to certain illegal aliens to pass legislation providing a “pathway to citizenship.”
“We owe it to America to do better,” Obama said in the East Room of the White House. “We owe it to the Dreamers to do better.”
Obama then went on to cite several young people in the audience. Obama and supporters of the immigration reform legislation have called people who were taken into the United States illegally by their parents “dreamers.” Democrats previously supported the DREAM Act that would allow illegals who attend college or enlist in the military to get on the pathway to citizenship.
During the speech, Obama said the pathway in the proposal before the Senate is “arduous.”
“You've got to pass background checks,” Obama said. “You've got to learn English. You've got to pay taxes and a penalty, and then you've got to go to the back of the line behind everybody who’s done things the right way and have tried to come here legally. So this won’t be a quick process. It will take at least 13 years before the vast majority of these individuals are able to even apply for citizenship. So this is no cakewalk.”
However, he said the pathway is needed for enforcement to work....

i’m trying to remember why i paid so much for out of state tuition when i went to college... when all i had to do was declare myself a citizen of mexico and collect free money from the state along with lower tuition rates
and after it’s all done... pick my citizenship back up, all on the taxpayer’s dime... which wouldn’t have been me, as i would have been an illegal.

What do we “owe” illegals who broke the law coming into this country? But I would not expect a man who believes that quality healthcare is a “right” to satisfactorily answer that question.
If you're not prosecuting the parents, it's hard to make the case that the children are victims. Seems the only debt "owed" to the dreamers is owed to them by their parents.

Before we let the Democrats shove another trillion-dollar boondoggle into law the debate on immigration should be expanded. Republicans in Congress are being given a false choice—amnesty or no amnesty.
The engine that drives most illegal immigration is the poor economic and social conditions for many in Mexico.
An oligarchy of billionaires run Mexico. These people control the monopolies that dominate the Mexican economy. Traditionally they have been able to repress competition leading to slower economic growth, a stunted entrepreneurial class, a lack of foreign investment, limited choices for consumers, and fewer jobs. These conditions help keep almost half the Mexican population in poverty and only semi-employed.
This is not an indictment of capitalism but of the forces that restrict free market equity in Mexico.
Mexico is rich. Last year they passed Brazil in economic growth. But where the U.S. is over regulated, Mexico is under regulated. In the U.S. the government is the main obstacle to economic growth. In Mexico it is the ruling class. And Mexico has a judicial system that favors the powerful.
An example: Billionaire Carlos Slim controls 80 percent of telecommunications—landlines and mobile phones—in Mexico. The absence of competition means fewer jobs, less innovation, slower growth for the industry, and little choice in rates or services for consumers. Slim is not a robber baron but a shrewd industrialist operating in the environment he was born into.
The key to solving the illegal immigration crisis may be forceful diplomacy aimed at helping Mexico design a new regulatory model that encourages competition, foreign investment and a new generation of entrepreneurs and small business owners.
A task force of thinkers and builders drawn from across the spectrum of the U.S. economy could serve as an economic Peace Corps.
This will not be easy but it will be far easier than attempting to assimilate tens of millions of Mexican nationals into our system.

The US government should owe all naturally born American citizens the opportunity for gainful employment.
I understand where Barry is coming from. After all, he was a young illegal once.
Seems a bit counterintuitive to now say I owe a debt to the very fruits of the crimes I tried to stop.
We should agree that our immigration laws should be as “generous” as Mexico’s.
Not to be pissed away to people who didn't earn it, or people who don't understand
what actual freedom stands for. And especially not to be given to people for VOTES!
Send them back to the Governments their parents accept without a fight, back to the

This piece of shit decides we “owe” illegals? We owe them nothing. Why do I owe them anything? They should be treated as invaders and either imprisoned or immediately deported.
Our Southern border is more porous than a Chicago teen- minority's cervix.
