Soldiers Allege Laura Poitras, Had Foreknowledge of 2004 Iraqi Attack on U.S. Troops
The Weekly Standard ^ | June 12, 2013 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 06/12/2013 6:28:09 AM PDT by don-o

When Edward Snowden decided he wanted to release details about the NSA's intelligence operations to the public, he reached out to Laura Poitras, a 49-year-old film maker and political activist opposed to the war on terror. As the Washington Post noted on Monday, Poitras had "the odd distinction of sharing a byline in The Washington Post and in London’s Guardian newspaper last week on two blockbuster stories."

snip

But perhaps it isn't such a mystery why the U.S. government might want to question Poitras if you simply crack open John R. Bruning's 2006 book, The Devil's Sandbox: With the 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry at War in Iraq. Contary to Greenwald's claim that Poitras has never been accused of any wrongdoing, Devil's Sandbox details the explosive allegation that Poitras had foreknowledge of a November 20, 2004 ambush of U.S. troops but did nothing to warn them.

I remember reading back then how Big Media would see Iraqis burying IED’s and then would set up and film our boys and girls riding over them.

Then they would cite some journolist “hero” who had told them never to lose their “objectivity” and thus they were doing their sacred duty to let American soldiers be killed for the good of the story.

This woman seems to be a rather nasty piece of work. I am still not entirely sure about what I think about the NSA exposure.

It certainly confirmed my suspicions.

There’s a transcript here somewhere this morning of Rush saying Snowden NEVER REVEALED INTEL, only the process that the beloved Hussein Head government is doing to America.

Watch how the RINOS bleat on this to know which way is right.

This revelation, if true, would not surprise me a bit. This is the type of pond scum this turd hangs around with and views as “friends”.

This guy may have done what any American should have done, and brought this to the attention of the citizenry.

But this should be no different than any citizen in an airport who points out an unattended suitcase left behind by a man who ran out the front door.

This guy is no hero, and neither are the people he chums around with. We can be glad the information is out, but I have no gratitude to him or her.

Yes. See my post below at #14.

I don’t know if the guy is a traitor, I think not.

But I KNOW his no damned hero. And neither is the cheap two bit whore he gave the story to.

I can agree with that.

He seems to be two-bit leftist trash who became disillusioned with (some of?) the leftist freaks he used to support.

If he HAD made any disparaging remarks about the Fraud, I’m thinking they would never be reported, since the meme is all about making him a traitor for doing what was considered patriotic by Big Media during the last administration.

Perhaps the cheap two bit whore was the only one who would run with the story. All the expensive ones were already under contract to the current regime in Washington, servicing its federal agents.

Think about Snowden s resume timeline:
Worked for CIA (as a tech in Sweden or Switzerland )
Went to media in FEBRUARY
Has only worked for data mining for three months
Left in May
Staying at expensive hotel down the street from Hong Kong CIA branch

People are often placed in cover jobs behind enemy line. Would the film maker fit that mold?

Things are not always as they are googled or first appear.

No high school graduation— no record
No college deploys — no record
Resume says worked for CIA That I believe !
But I know for a fact they create cover by placing in jobs or near people needing investigating.
They can create a person with a resume to fit the situation and they can make a person disappear. And continue life as someone else.

Google can be used as a tool in either situation
Has anyone looked for family? Snowden lake Snowden road. Where are they located?

Chicago radio station WIND am 560 does delayed post midnight broadcasts (d-bcast) of both Hugh Hewitt amd Dennis Praeger. On Fridays broadcast Prager dennouced the revelations as being directed, without naming the individual nor speculating who he had in mind , towards eliminating this monitoring by NSA which leaves US vunerable to terrorist attack.

In Mondays d-bcast from France he reasserted that position. Mike Gallagher who preceeds Prager (9-12pm) also has taken a similar position, citing the news story attention grabbing from other issues including Bengahzi, and Hewitt on a Norvegen tour boat hiatus taking Praegers position.

The most recent example of NSA success being used was the 2009 New York subway bombing attempt. Where a call was monitored going to Pakistan. Not the most recent Boston Marathon bombing which involved local calls.

Not the first reports which did credit NSA, now morgued, where the Florida soon to be divorcee was mailing Castor Oil (ricin) letters to Obama and Bloomberg. Here dates of emails were cited that eliminated her husband (who was at work)that she accused of mailing. That information came from that NSA program under examination .

Now that’s the problem....They’re wathing US not “Them” whom they can’t even call terrorists...

Yes, looked at family. I pinged you a blurb on his mother. Father lives in Allentown, PA.

(Note: Not sure I’m believing the GF angle.)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10110342/Edward-Snowden-the-quiet-Hawaii-life-of-the-NSA-whistleblower.html

One told The Daily Telegraph: “They were here about four months and he didn’t come out much. He had a lot of boxes in his garage which blocked it off and there was just a little gap to walk through. His girlfriend was, I’d say, in her 20s with blonde hair.”

(snip)

Mr Snowden’s mother, Wendy, is listed as working as chief deputy clerk at the federal court in Baltimore.

By apparent coincidence that is the same court where members of the media petitioned for open access to the military trial of Bradley Manning, the US soldier accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of secret documents to WikiLeaks.

http://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/39fed/02usd/html/02usd.html

ADMINISTRATION & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Elizabeth (Wendy) Snowden, Chief Deputy Clerk

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I’m not convinced that Snowden acted alone. I am leaning towards a WikiLeaks connection, one pointing towards Greenwald...Poitras...???

http://www.salon.com/2012/04/08/u_s_filmmaker_repeatedly_detained_at_border/

By Glenn Greenwald

(snip)

This government abuse has received some recent attention in the context of WikiLeaks. Over the past couple of years, any American remotely associated with that group — or even those who have advocated on behalf of Bradley Manning — have been detained at the airport and had their laptops, cellphones and cameras seized: sometimes for months, sometimes forever. But this practice usually targets people having nothing to do with WikiLeaks.

(snip)

Poitras is now forced to take extreme steps — ones that hamper her ability to do her work — to ensure that she can engage in her journalism and produce her films without the U.S. Government intruding into everything she is doing. She now avoids traveling with any electronic devices. She uses alternative methods to deliver the most sensitive parts of her work — raw film and interview notes — to secure locations. She spends substantial time and resources protecting her computers with encryption and password defenses. Especially when she is in the U.S., she avoids talking on the phone about her work, particularly to sources. And she simply will not edit her films at her home out of fear — obviously well-grounded — that government agents will attempt to search and seize the raw footage.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

FTR, Greenwald, Poitras and Manning are openly gay.

wikipedia:

Denver Nicks writes that Manning would travel back to Washington, D.C., for visits, where an ex-boyfriend helped him find his way around the city’s vibrant gay community, introducing him to lobbyists, activists, and White House aides

Sound advice? Assange advises Snowden to seek refuge in Latin America.

The WikiLeaks founder has a lot to thank Latin America for – specifically Ecuador. And though many regional countries have defied US priorities there, plenty have extradition agreements with the States.
