Paul Ryan: ‘I will debate anybody’ who says immigration bill is ‘amnesty’
Yahoo News ^

Posted on 06/12/2013 2:27:40 PM PDT by Windy City Conservative

"Earned legalization is not amnesty," Ryan said during a forum on immigration sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers. "I will debate anybody who tries to suggest that these ideas that are moving through Congress are amnesty. They're not. Amnesty is wiping the slate clean and not paying any penalty for having done something wrong."

Ryan pointed to provisions baked into the Senate bill from the beginning that require those in the United States to pay a fine, back taxes, undergo background checks and enter a years-long probationary period before earning citizenship, a process that can take up to 15 years.

"That," Ryan said, "is not amnesty."

"Earned legalization is not amnesty . . . "

It depends on what they have to do to earn it.

Any bill that makes sneaking into the country an easier path to citizenship an easier route than actually being required to go through the legal process and be vetted, tested and proven as is my son-in-law who applied back in 2009 is, indeed, amnesty and giving away American citizenship on the cheap to certain favored demographics who are likely to thank this country for our generousity by voting in more Democrat politicians hell-bent on turning us into the same type of third world garbage cans from which they fled.

Ryan lost a debate to Joe Biden. Good luck Paul.

That's gotta be the biggest crock I've ever seen posted on FR.

You sure you're on the right site?

Amnesty is wiping the slate clean and not paying any penalty for having done something wrong."

BS. Many states and localities have had tax amnesty programs where if you pay the tax you owe you will not be subject to other fines and interest penalties. But you still have to obey the law. The immigration equivalent of that amnesty program would be the illegal alien starts obeying the law, i.e. return home, and further penalties won't apply to them like temporary or permanent prevention of them ever entering the US legally.

Thus going home and obeying the law in the future without being penalized for having been here would itself be an amnesty program. An even more generous program would then of course be an amnesty. Even if you pay a "fine" under the proposed law, when that fine is a much smaller penalty than the current law (deportation and not being allowed to immigrate legally in the future) then it is an amnesty.

Yep, getting you a** whupped by Plugs isn’t a shining endorsement.
Q: “Tell us anywhere in the USA where increase in immigration has resulted in more Republican voters other than Cuba refugees in parts of Florida?”

Illegal immigration is not as much an issue in Wisconsin as it is in the coastal states and the Southwest. This bill will translate to more Democrat voters, maybe not in Wisconsin so much, but decidedly so in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. The net effect of the 1986 immigration bill was a major factor in tipping California, once a bellwether state, into a Democrat lock. The net effect of this new bill will be the same, and you can count on Florida and maybe Arizona being permanent losses to the GOP and Texas moving into "purple" status.

Ryan couldn't even carry his home state last year. He is no one conservatives should look up to. Neither is Rand Paul, whose state is not much affected by illegal immigration. As for Marco Rubio, he is undercutting his own base in Florida.

You know, the guy that whipped your @ss in the VP debate.

I'm no fan of Ryan nor his current attempeted bs job, but that debate was a set up lib hack job.

Biden didn't debate, he sneered, looked like a repugnant teenager, and did nothing but wet the panties of the lib base.

BTW, he also said we were arming the Syrian "rebels" AKA AQ.

... unless, of course, all those tough-sounding provisions are waived or rubber-stamped by the DHS. As you KNOW they will be.

Take a flying leap, Ryan. Loser POS.

“Earned legalization is not amnesty,” Ryan said”

Trying to bamboozle us with not-so-clever semantics? What a tool!

“Earned legalization”, step 1: Illegally enter the U.S. or illegally remain after visa expires.

Break our immigration laws and “earn” yourself a big reward from Ryan and his buddies in the open borders cabal.

Illegals already get all kinds of taxpayer funded benefits, not to mention the jobs they take from Americans.

I know illegals that are on welfare, who receive health care benefits at my expense and whose children go to school on my dime.

They gather and protest openly with little or no loyalty to America and have the most entrenched sense of entitlement of any group I know of.

But hey, it's not amnesty..right?

What the hell else do you call it?

I bet when all the Republicans in Washington get together they probably don't have the collective IQ of the average house cat.

Who do you think these folks will vote for when you give them the few rights they don't already have? Republican? I've got news for you, they will show you no loyalty what so ever for anything you do for them and pull the lever for the Democrats the first chance they get. Got it??!!

“That,” Ryan said, “is not amnesty.”

AND it’s probably not... THIS WEEK!!!..

soon as it passes it can and WILL BE amended/changed/altered/morphed/slippery sloped/adjusted/connived/updated
TO BE AMNESTY..

Some things in the bill will be ENFORCED other things will be IGNORED..
You know.. the way its always done TO REPUBLICANS.. even IF they are the majority..

DEMOCRATS are relentless, REPUBLICANS are Lazy, half-hearted, doubled minded, very confused..
Its the extremely rare republican that’s focused...

The ONLY way to get a democrat to release their cold dead hands from POWER....
IS by making their hands cold and dead.. by civil unrest..
But only democrats have the balls to do that..

Prepare yourselves soon it will be said, “I remember when there was a republican party”..
“THE”.... Coup D’Etat has ALREADY happened..
America has been “JUDGED” and came up Evil...

Obama is just PUNISHMENT..
