White House cancels Obama's African safari after plans are revealed to include a military SNIPER

President and Mrs. Obama are planning a trip to sub-Saharan Africa later in the month, but the White House has scotched a plan to include a Tanzanian safari on the agenda after a reporter revealed that a team of snipers with high-powered military assault rifles would accompany him in the wild.

The Washington Post reported Thursday afternoon that the itinerary's dangers 'would have required the president’s special counterassault team to carry sniper rifles with high-caliber rounds that could neutralize cheetahs, lions or other animals if they became a threat.'

The newspaper based its report on a confidential planning document leaked from someone in the administration.

(snip)

The trip could be among the most expensive journeys a president has taken in recent memory, with price forecasts ranging between $60 million and $100 million. His recent appearances in Israel cost taxpayers an estimated $10.9 million.

(snip)

'Mr. Obama shouldn’t need special counter-assault teams to neutralize threats,' Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb told MailOnline. 'He’s got the IRS for that, doesn’t he?'

'Oh, that’s right,' he noted with tongue in cheek: 'Lions, cheetahs and other animals aren’t conservative taxpayers.'

It says so much about the MSM that we see articles such as this in oversees papers.

Interesting. I’m wondering what kind of sniper uses an assault rifle... select-fire capability generally does not lend itself to long-range accuracy. Also, what the heck does “high-caliber” mean? Anything .50 or bigger?

It is such a waste of energy and human spirit to pander to the whims of this free-ride family.

I may be reading too much into this, but is the jug-eared moron cancelling the safari due to his fear that there will be snipers? Is he afraid they will turn them on him? This is on par with the “food taster” story of a few months back... if true, this guy is flat out nuts.

I am surprised Obuttranger was going to use a sniper on a safari.

I would have thought he would just shoot lions and zebras from the comfort of an easy chair using drones.

High caliber is anything 0.177 or larger.
Chris Kyle, the 'American Sniper', used select-fire.
As for assault rifles, all sniper rifles are scary to liberals who think cowering and hoping the bad guys don't see you is the best strategy (didn't DHS give that advice in a video?), so all sniper rifles are assault rifles, aren't they?

I wonder if maybe they weren't planning on “neutralizing” the wrong mammals.

After all, some of those animals are members of endangered species, while lib-tards are pretty much a dime a dozen...

Most of sub-Saharan Africa doesn’t have the infrastructure of the Roman Empire of 2000 years ago. Based what I remember from Michael Palin’s travelogues, this trip has the potential for at least $100 million in entertainment value. (I’m in for my $0.33 share!)

Millions of dollars spent on these clowns, but I guess the WH is still closed to the people because of sequester.

What a joke!

It says so much about the MSM(sic) that we see articles such as this in oversees(sic) papers.

The DLEMM is anything but mainstream. Why do people continue to make the mistake of referring to that cabal of pukes as mainstream.

NRA should use this to prove that high caliber rifles etc etc are appropriate for hunting.
