A group supporting an open-borders policy on immigration is trying to use the nationwide release of Man of Steel to further its cause. We Are the American Way, a project from Define American, has a new site dubbed "Superman Is an Immigrant" meant to piggyback on the cultural conversation around the superhero film.
"Superman is an American. Like Superman, we are the American way," the site's sub-head reads.
Born on Krypton, he came to this country with the promise of Hope - the symbol he bears on his chest. Many of our families also have a history of immigration. We share Supermans hope and we continue his fight for truth, justice and the American Way.
The site features images of pro-amnesty supporters holding hand drawn images of the iconic "S" emblazoned on the character's chest.
Define American founder Jose Antonio Vargas wrote a blog on the subject, signing off with a paraphrase of the character's signature line, "In truth and justice," but leaving out "The American Way.

One self-supporting super man from Krypton that helps promote truth, justice, and the American Way
30 million dependent men women and children from third world nations that promote deception, injustice, and the worst ways of their parent nation
Great analogy... /s
I liked Speedy Gonzales...at least he stayed where he belonged.
Does Kryptonite work on Amnesty Legislation?
Big Difference: Superman has a job, doesn’t need healthcare, and FIGHTS crime.
“I liked Speedy Gonzales...at least he stayed where he belonged.”
And he fought cats.
I can think of a simple few more appropriate correlaries: Subsistence Section 8 Housing " 'splain it to me how I can get WICs, SNAP and TANF" Social Security (where can I get some Amigo?) School (you pay for my cheelren's schooling) You get the picture.
But do they believe in “ Truth, Justice, and The American Way?
He was adopted by John/Jonathan/Eben and Mary/Martha/Sarah Kent. Best I know, they are American citizens. I am sure that he could be naturalized if it were not for the Hague convention and mandatory immunizations.
I would never, ever want to visit the loony fantasy land liberals live in.
Jeez, I don’t even have to say anything except ‘see the tag line’.
“Superman/Kal El” is a US Citizen by Act of Congress (can’t remember the issue).
Clark Kent is technically an illegal alien, due to a fradulent adoption by the Kents.
When Pedro and his hombres leap tall buildings in a single bound and fly through the air at the speed of light, I’d be willing to make an exception.
Instead, they leap the Rio Grande in a single bound, scurry across the border at the speed of light, and get on welfare faster than a speeding bullet.
Ah, yes, the comic book defense!
Stan Lee vs. the Board of Education 1954
Until Ted Kennedy (D-Hell) pushed the changes in immigration law to get rid of usfull immigrants in favor of poor communist minded peasants, skilled immigrants had very little problem obtaining work and travel visas. Basically the superman that landed in the 30’s would have little trouble gaining legal status. Todays immigration policies would have him waiting behind a horde of undeducated muslim Somali’s.
When their country blows up, we'll see about letting them in. Meanwhile:
Kal-El could not return to his home planet. Furthermore, he had special skills that would be valuable to the United States. Also, he was not bringing in his entire family.
I’ll make a deal with them.
All the illegal invaders that can leap tall buildings in a single bound and are actually faster than a speeding bullet win citizenship.
They get the first test with the speeding bullet at the border.
If they pass that test, they get to put on a cape and jump off the Empire State building. If they can fly they get citizenship.
Superman was adopted and raised by US citizens, nothing illegal about that.
Superman showed up in America as a baby refugee whose home planet had been destroyed. I’m quite sure we could find a way to offer someone like that citizenship, regardless of whether or noe he had any particular superpowers.
Mexico, on the other hand, isn’t destroyed. It’s management is terrible and it’s culture encourages total lawlessness. Those are things that can be fixed. The poeple that want to come here would be better off fixing their own country rather than spreading their plague here.
Superman is not a human being, despite his outward appearance, immigration laws do not apply to him.
LOL. Ok, he has a birth certificate. By where’s his I-800?
Another cartoon figure, The Frito Bandito, is closer to the truth.
Aye, aye, aye, aye. I am the Frito Banito. I love Frito’s Corn Chip, I love them, I do. I love Frito’s Corn Chips, I take them from you.
Actually, since Krypton isn’t a Hague Convention country, he needs an I-600, not 800.
Under longstanding FR rules, Kara is automatically Not Guilty.
Also Laz hit-it worthy.
In the Byrne origin, he was born on Earth, in Kansas.
“Superman ia a Fictional Character” PING
Fictional like the so called “American DREAM” for illegal aliens
Mexicans are entitled to their own Mexican dream..
American dreams are for Americans..
Superman’s parents never snuck him over the border into Amertica..
they died back in their own country/planet
they sent their refugee baby out into the unknown in the hope that he would survive on another planet...
any baby from another destroyed planet like Krypton is welcome to stay as a refugee like the baby “Supertboy” did and be adopted by Americans like the Kents...
However all illegal aliens from this planet must go back home to their own countries...
PS Nobody has suggested they go to Krypton..
I dont think the Krypton authorities would have put up with their brazen in-your-face criminal shinanigans anyway...
a riot like they did at Congressman Steve King’s office and they would be in the Krypton hoosegow before they could say “steenkin rules”
B U M P
do they have special skills too?
Of couse superman was in fact adopted by US citizens...
(...and god created a farmer.)
Superman jumped ahead in line and flew over the border.
Neither he nor Clark Kent had papers, they were both ‘undocumented’.
Superman saved plenty of Grandma's and Babies and Clark Kent paid SS taxes.
We need to repent our zenaphobic ways now before its too late, before we chase Superman away and he moves to Hong Kong or Russia.
REPENT! SAY 'I AM UNDOCUMENTED TOO. WE SHALL STAND TOGETHER'.....DA-DA-DA.
He also spoke English and did not habitually drive drunk and molest women.
he also had a job and paid taxes
and didnt feel entitled to welfare food stamps etc paid for by the taxpayers
Strange... I never knew that Superman spent his life on welfare, voting only Democrat...
Wow! Using a fictitious character to support their fictitious agenda! Good one!!
I would be thinking more along the lines of The Andromeda Strain.
“The people can never willfully betray their own interests: But they may possibly be betrayed by the representatives of the people; and the danger will be evidently greater where the whole legislative trust is lodged in the hands of one body of men, than where the concurrence of separate and dissimilar bodies is required in every public act.”
—James Madison, Federalist No. 63, 1788
