The UN prepares to go to war for the first time (Congo)
Daily Mail ^ | UPDATED: 08:22 EST, 14 June 2013 | Daniel Miller

The UN is about to go to war for the first time in its history after the Security Council voted unanimously to intervene to fight rebels in the Congo.

Around 3,000 UN troops wearing the blue insignia, are being deployed to the central African nation which has been wracked by years of civil war and lawlessness.

The UN has led a 14-year-long peacekeeping in a bid to end the ethic conflict which was sparked by the genocide in neighbouring Rwanda when thousands of Hutus fled into the Congo to evade justice.

...

It will be the first time that the UN itself will be in direct control of a fighting force, responsible for the tactics on the ground, troop deployments and air strikes.

The force will be made up of soldiers from South Africa, Tanzania and Malawi and is under the command of Brazilian general Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz, who is credited with dismantling criminal gangs in Haiti in 2007.

It will be deployed against M23 (March 23) rebels in the east of the country.

Right! I had forgotten that deviation from common sense.

“Seconded. African nations can fund it as well.”

They d, by sending “African Union” troops (and getting paid by white countries to send them); they were the root of the “UN peacekeepers raping villagers” story. Apparently it is a cultural thing.

The war in the COngo has been termed WWIII by African countries, with good reason; over 2 million have died in a war between seven African countries (and it receives no mention in the press - probably because BJ CLinton said “never again” in Rwanda without ever having his plane’s engines turned off....).

Yep. Of course the soldiers the UN is sending in are from South Africa, Tanzania and Malawi. The first thing I thought of was this:

Rebels capture Central African Republic capital, president flees (France sends 300 more troops)

South Africa lost 13 soldiers in March when their 200 man force got overrun by rebels. Of course no one could really explain why they had 200 soldiers in Central African Republic ...

The article quotes a death toll over five million. Of course there is nothing approaching a reliable census in most of Africa.

Africa will always be a disaster, as it is full of Africans.

Another clusterflock. Anyone remember the UN and Rwanda? about 600,000 murdered. I’m still waiting for Kofi Anan to be hanged for mass murder.

“The article quotes a death toll over five million.”

My figure was from the mid-2000s; I don’t believe much of what the media reports in terms of casualties anywhere, but 5 million is as credible as 2 million. In any case, “never again” is out the window, especially since some of the northern countries (like Kenya) are allies of ours. This war is actually an extension of the Rwanda war, with each tribe now supported by allied NATIONS (but basically the same two tribes fighting it out - with billions of dollars in diamonds as the prize).

“Africa will always be a disaster, as it is full of Africans.”

Au contraire, mon ami.

We were in South Africa in 2003, and our economists took a survey of Africans in the Pretoria shanty towns. We discovered that what they wanted most was private property and the rule of law.

I’d love to import about 10 million South Africans into our inner cities. They love their families and free enterprise and would clean up our liberal, black shitholes in less than six months. They are tough and outstanding street fighters.

I don’t believe there is anything genetic about it; any American who has visited Bermuda or the Bahamas can tell you blacks know how to run a tight ship when they need to. There is corruption, combined with very young countries in Africa; if it the same in 100 years then maybe there is something more to it. Most African countries are still younger than when the United States fought it’s Civil War.

My niece and her husband pastor a church in the Congo and just returned after being home on furlough for a year. This is scary.

Korea didn’t count?

That was just a police action. A lot of North Koreans and Chinese were arrested and fingerprinted.

Time to send in Roland the Thompson gunner (still has his head at the present time).

“This will not end well.”

Not only that, I’m not terribly comfortable with the UN... which fancies itself a “world government”... having their own army.

Actually, the UN already has FOUR headquarters buildings: 1) the UN building HQ in NYC, 2) the UN building HQ in Brussels, Belgium. 3) the UN building HQ in Geneva, Switzerland, and 4) the UN building HQ in Nairobi, Kenya. I recommend the UN move all its NYC operations to Nairobi so as to be closer to its “customers”.
