Skip to comments.Video: Less than half of the Senate shows up for briefing on NSA?

We can look at this in one of two ways. Maybe only 47 of the current 100 US Senators didnt know enough about the NSA surveillance programs to consider themselves fully informed and satisfied that the intelligence community doesnt cross the line when it comes to spying on Americans. Or, perhaps 53 of the current 100 US senators dont really care whether the NSA is spying on Americans at least not enough to put off plans for a long weekend:
Whats-it's-name sending weapons to al-Qaeda. Media and congress say,,,"who cares, that's a good thing!"
This NSA thing has no more legs than F&F, the AP snooping, Benghazi, or the IRS story,,,and whats-it's name knows it. Once again Mr. Teflon skates away without a scratch.
a$$hats all... or, damn nearly all!
They didnt show up because they want to be like Obama :’I know NOTHING, NOTHING’
They don’t plan on doing anything.
Plus they are sworn to secrecy.
“Or, perhaps 53 of the current 100 US senators...”
It’s looking more and more like Obama is going to get away with all this and continue on his merry way. IMO
Nothing to worry about- they are consistent in their choosing to be ignorant.
Is there a list of who attended and who didn’t?
PUBLISH THE LIST!
When only 47 out of 100 Senators stick around for a hearing this important, that basically answers the question:
“How did we get in this situation?”
I want to know every one of the A$$hats who didn’t show. The people need to pound them with letters of condemnation
Another way to see it, 53 of our brave Sir Robins bravely stayed away.
Impending Fall of Rome, anybody..?
What would The Framers say...?
We allowed political office to become a career choice, not a patriotic calling. With big salaries, incredible perks, power and social prestige -- not to mention lifetime health care and cushy pensions -- politicians became beholden to lobbyists and re-election donors who want favors, not the citizens they're supposed to represent. Write all the letters and emails you want to the politician "representing" you. The only ones that get read are the ones promising big-time financial support.
Who are the Senators who voted "not present?"
They have drinks to mix! (some of them have to drown themselves in alcohol to try to forget how they’ve screwed the country they took an oath to defend.)
Since when is Fathers’ day a LONG WEEKEND?
Romanians had it better than we do. During Ceasescu’s regime, every family got a new phone equipped with a mike that allowed the government to monitor their every word.
We didn’t even get a new phone.
I couldn’t find a list anywhere. Is it an effin’ state secret or what?
Well, what would we expect given the level of stupidity represented in the Senate. And the rest are bought and paid for.
There was someone on one of the radio news shows who stated that it wasn’t uncommon for elected members to skip security briefings offered by the administration, as first of all the information was suspect, and secondly, anything they heard in a classified briefing would then be off the table for public discussion. I think many of them are getting their information from more trusted sources.
This underscores the point I’ve been making!!!
>> This NSA thing has no more legs than ...
That’s right. The NSA is just an instrument. Turn your focus to Congress where it belongs.
Wasn’t this a briefing by Clapper? Enough said.
