Self-Identified Enforcer for Mexican Cartels Confesses to More Than 30 Murders, Police Say
NBC News ^ | Daniel Arkin

A self-described debt collector for Mexican drug cartels says he has slayed more than 30 people across the United States, according to investigators.

If Jose Martinez, 51, is found guilty of scores of homicides on both coasts, he would earn a place among the most lethal serial murderers in American history.

Investigators have confirmed that Martinez is responsible for a 2006 double-homicide in Marion County, Fla., a March homicide in Lawrence County, Ala., and at least 10 other killings in California, according to sheriff’s officials.

Martinez, a U.S. citizen, told investigators that he committed those murders and more than a dozen others as an enforcer for multiple Mexican drug lords, according to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Capt. Tim McWhorter.

“He basically told us, ‘I’m the guy that pays you a visit when you don’t pay the cartel,” McWhorter said. “He had a reputation in the drug world as the guy who would get the job done. If he was assigned to get money, he’d get money. If he was assigned to kill, he’d kill.”

Lovely grammar, “he has slayed”. Isn’t it “he has slain”?

Martinez told McWhorter that, in addition to contract hits for drug bosses, he killed people “involved in pedophilia or sexual abuse” as part of a personal vendetta unrelated to his assignments from the Mexican cartels.

Let's see - he killed drug dealers, pedophiles and rapists. We oughta put him on the Federal payroll - make sure he gets a pension when he's too old for this line of work.

A paid assassin is not a serial killer, he’s just doing his job.

Will Mexico protest the death penalty? Did the NSA tap his mobile phone?

Ah, but this one is. Started killing at 16 and was a self confessed executioner in his spare time. I found the comments on the articles site rather amusing. It confirms what I already know about your average readers. This is a subject that I happen to know a bit about that your average joe has not caught onto yet. People need to start asking themselves some basic questions. Why are your politicians so eager to open the flood gates of third world imigrants? Why were we allowing those illegal arms to get in the hands of only certain members of only certain cartels? Why are we intentionally allowing Suadi immigrants special privileges to come and go under the radar?
I will tell you need to watch what is starting to happen with the heroin trade. We are about to see a epidemic. The cartels are making a show in Europe as we speak and the pipelines are being built. Your friends in Washington are well aware of this, in fact they are BANKING on it. The bailouts bought their loyalty. Why do you think so much money went to European banks? Weapons are being traded to our Muslim friends to bolster their loyalties and build up local strong men to keep the money and the heroin flowing. The West is not going to know what hit them.

You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot, and you think that's me? No! I am the one who knocks!

Please allow him to continue to clean up America! He’s not costing us taxpayers a solitary dime. I imagine the lawyers are ticked off tho.

Will Mexico protest the death penalty?

On what grounds he's a U.S. citizen, not Mexican.

There's already a glut of heroin. Prices are down, and purity and seizures are up. If demand is already sated, what good is increasing the supply?

I'm skeptical.
