NJ’s finacial woes started with Gov Florio borrowing 900 million from the PFRS (Police and Firefighter pension fund) to balance his state budget. Whitman criticized this during her campaign which unseated him. Then she turned around and did the same thing twice.She also went on a massive state hiring spree increasing the states workforce about %40 or so. Then she changed the funding formula which determined how much cities and towns had to pay into these pension funds. It was an accounting gimmick instead of trying to change the state laws, which she broke. She was a RINO. McGreevy and Corzine were useless.
