AT&T to Load iPhones With Emergency Alerts From Obama – That You Can’t Switch Off
Gateway Pundit ^ | June 16, 2013 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 06/16/2013 7:10:15 AM PDT by EXCH54FE

Just in case you want more Obama in your life… AT&T is loading iPhones with emergency alerts from Barack Obama… That you can’t switch off.

AT&T has begun rolling out Wireless Emergency Alerts updates for iPhone 4S and 5, so you won’t be the last folks to know if the entire northern hemisphere is about to be covered in ice à la Day After Tomorrow.

You’ll receive a notification from the carrier when your update is ready, but only if you’re using iOS 6.1 or higher.

Once installed, AMBER and Emergency alerts are automatically sent to your phone unless you switch them off via Settings. However, should you be tired of Obama, just know that there’s no way to switch off Presidential alerts.

So now Barack can track your calls and send you messages, too.

Just had another idea; We get all our conservative friends, neighbors, etc to call the white hut every time a message from obammy hits our phones. After burning up their switchboard a few times maybe they’ll quit.

Sprint has the same feature on my Android phone. It is under text messaging-settings.

You can deselect weather and natural disaster emergency alerts but you cannot deselect presidential alerts.

So far he hasn’t txt me. Except the one about lining up at the railroad car./s

Wasn't the AT&T CEO a big sponsor of the Scouts homo vote?

They'll start with the ATT roll out, then likely move to other carriers...after the program proves to be *a success*.

Is there any wireless phone that doesn't comply with this forced crap?

Does the NSA have information that would ‘help’ AT&T? Or information that would hurt them? LOL We are soooooo screwed.

Go with Mennonite.
You can still drive cars but not be in SocSec or Obamacare.

Obama listens in on Verizon and speaks on AT&T?

Doubtless they listen to AT&T as well.

Part of the "arrangement" is if you disclose that this is happening you can and will be jailed.

Verizon can more-or-less safely discuss that which they themselves did not reveal. AT&T simply can't, unless and until someone else spills the beans. I'd be willing to bet there's still a lot Verizon won't dare be first to mention.

You can be certain AT&T and every other carrier is under similar constraints.

You can be certain that the obama administration has access to every electron used in communication anywhere it can.

Knowledge is power...

My phone updated last night. I didn't know why until now.

You'll see a dialog box saying "your carrier settings have been updated".

I'm aware that there has been a lot of concern over loss of ability to warn people of tornadoes and other severe weather via the Emergency Broadcast System, due to viewing and listening habits shifting so dramatically away from radio, broadcast television and cable. We don't have sirens here, NOAA weather radio and EBS are relied upon.

So, this I understand and do not find ominous, although the prospect of way overused Amber Alerts going off in my pants pocket multiple times a day because of child custody domestic disputes is not at all appealing. Poor life skills on your part do not constitute an emergency on my part. Yes, that's a chilly attitude but it's so out of hand that I've just become jaded, I guess.

Now, this Presidential thing, that's disturbing if true and accurately depicted. A literal Obamafoam, no choice in the matter. I don't have one, don't want one, wouldn't want one for "free.". I'll be da**ed if I'm paying for one that does that, though. There is utterly no reason for it, none at all.

Say what you will about Steve Jobs but this crap didn't happen under his watch. Apple was the antithesis of Big Brother, by design. He was openly hostile to any scheme to put a yoke on the masses, he sought to make that impossible.

1984 wasn't like 1984, thanks to Apple. But, 2013 will be. Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. You're sorely missed.

I turned the Amber and Weather alerts off. The Dear Leader one, you can’t. Apparently the NSA wants me to alerted whenever they find terrorists...(snicker)....

Thank the Lord for hackers!

A week or two after this show up on the shelves there should be a hack available on the internet to disable the offending software.

We kept getting emergency alerts when we got our new dumb phones from Verizon last year. Very annoying. We finally figured out where and how to turn them off. There was also a “Presidential Emergency Alert” on the phone, which we could not turn off.

Verizon sold out long ago.

BrianEngadget summarizes nicely:

Obama Alert: "The NSA noticed you were planning to vote Republican. We can help you avoid a costly IRS audit if you agree to vote Democrat instead."

I don’t have an iPhone or SmartPhone or any of that stuff. I have a dumb phone, because the only thing I need the danged thing for is making an occasional call, or receiving voice mail.

My iPad has weather alerts when I open it up. Usually, I can just look outside and see the weather. However, I recently was able to see that the weather at home was terrible while I was enjoying terrible weather several hundred miles away.
