Cheney: ‘I Don’t Pay a Lot of Attention to What Barack Obama Says’ By Patrick Brennan June 16, 2013 10:23 AM

Dick Cheney said this morning that “it’s good” the executive branch is still running counterterrorism surveillance operations, but he’s unhappy with how the president has talked about them and defended them. The president “ought to be able to say this is a righteous program,” Cheney said, but President Obama instead has run the program while claiming — most prominently in his speech at the National Defense University recently – that the War on Terror is coming to an end. On that, the former vice president said, “he’s just dead wrong . . . it’s not winding down.” In fact, “the area that’s safe harbor for terrorists now runs all across North Africa” and “the threat’s bigger than ever,” Cheney told Fox News’s Chris Wallace.

Vice President Cheney said that the administration ruined its “credibility” through dishonesty over the events in Benghazi and the IRS targeting. “The guy has failed to be forthright and honest,” Cheney said.

The point is, Who cares what he says? Pay attention to what he does.

Cheney has lost all credibility. He should just go away.

and your point is a good one. Obumbo has made many comments about a lot of things which do not jive with what he has done, which polite society says is misleading. In a pragmatic society one would say he is a liar or worse.

Frankly, I despise the thing, whatever form of being he is. I cannot stand his voice so I do not listen to anything he says but I do watch what he does and what his minions do as he bids them to do.

Cheney is just saying that in a polite way.

He IS ending the war on terror.

Correction: He IS attempting to end our involvement in the war on terror. The war will continue and we will be a victim, yet again, thanks to Soetoro, who has failed to learn from one of his predecessors.

“How do former Presidents, VPs, and previous administrations suddenly NOT care a whit as the nation devolves into a Commie-Fascist police state??”

It almost seems that way, doesn’t it? What are they thinking, that “this too shall pass”?

I greatly admire and appreciate Vice President Cheney. However, we see in this thread that there is a difference between being right-wing and constitutionally conservative.

As the fight to protect us in the war on terror sacrificed constitutional strictures it was initially run by Those like Cheney who were using all their power to protect our nation. Now the same structures they set up allow misuse by those that wish to undermine our nation.

This thread will be an example of Freepers supporting big Gubment and survailence under Bush/Cheney but pulling out the Constitution on Obummer. The problem is Gubment power evolves through precedents. What seems like a reasonable power under a “good” Administration can be used for ill by an irresponsible Administration. Imagine a good man, a King, a Tyrant, given “emergency” powers to meet an unprecedented problem. This good man acts responsibly and performs absolute good. This good man dies, or retires. Then imagine an evil man taking over.

That is why we have a Constitution that should not be trifled with. This business of Republics granting “Emergency” powers is as old as Rome, as old as Scipio and Fabian. These issues are dangerous and never turn out well in the long road. Once the precedence is set it is a long decline into Empire.

Fair point. I should've been more specific. Ubama is not using the NSA to fight a war on terror.

Terrorism will be around for a long time to come. It will be up to the next Republican President to fight it.

For now, the NSA Surveillance program is only being utilized to minimize the chances of a Republican ever becoming President.

Although we continue to make strides at the local and state level.

That may be better in the long run, anyway.

I'm not totally convinced President Romney would've been THAT much different than President Jarrett....ummm....errrr.....I mean Obama.

I don't get this indifference of which ways the winds of (subversive) change are blowing by (Republican) titans whose job in theory used to be the maintenance of security and integrity of the USA.

We got conned. Unfortunately, the Left hasn't yet figured out Obama is doing the same thing to them.

I agree 100%.

The really bad news: Two sides. Same globalist coin.

Even the Left has been awakens somewhat with the revelations that their own precious right to privacy and illegal search has been routinely violated without their knowledge.

Sorry, Mr. Cheney. The war on terror IS coming to an end—on Obama’s watch—so he can keep from killing his fellow shariah-wielding muslims.

The problem is once a Gubment is granted powers and money it is simply a matter of time before those powers and money are used in ways they are not “supposed” to be used.p
