Since taking office in January, Senator Ted Cruz has earned a reputation for being one of the most unapologetically outspoken lawmakers on Capitol Hill. So much so, perhaps, that when it comes to the Gang of Eight’s immigration-reform bill, of which Cruz has been one of the strongest Republican critics, it might seem like he’s been taking it easy.

It’s hard to believe that National Review was, once upon a time, actually conservative. It’s simply a mouthpiece for the GOPe ruling elite now.

I agree. Cherry-picked commenters who already have an axe to grind with Cruz.
No better example of the truism ... 'Damned if you do, damned if you don't'.
Especially when juxtaposed with this little puff piece today on NRs golden boy ... Romney's 'Revenge'.

The “opposition research” people got to Ted Cruz, and made him a deal he just could not refuse - back down, or we are going public with something you find, at the least, to be highly embarrassing.
Something similar has already been done to Marco Rubio.
Why, then, is not something similar also being done to Chuck Schumer? Or ‘Dick’ Durbin? Or has this happened to them already? Even the most jaded of politicos has something that is so dark, so shameful, he (or she) does not want it known, so who got there first with the dirt?
One suspects the George Soros machine has the patent on this deep research, and has applied it much more widely than anyone now suspects.
Perhaps that has been the real enemy all the time.

I trust nobody On that immigration issue. Time after time we see erstwhile conservatives folding. Everyone has their price or breaking point.
I do not believe Senator Cruz is “lying low”; but I do believe the NR has joined the “let’s destroy him” crowd. Too bad the author could not even call him “Senator” in the title of his article. How crude of Mr. Stiles;I refused to read his entire article.
Anything is possible.
If I were in the senate I would limit myself to one term.
I’d give em’ hell for 6 straight years then resign.
That way I couldn’t let my own ambition get in the way of doing the right thing.
God willing I wouldn’t get corrupted shortly after taking office.
NR has some good articles/authors too. And usually provides a good thread for discussion, even if to slam an obvious GOPe puff piece.

Actually, he and his staff have been moving from the temporary office he’s been assigned since arriving in Washington, to a permanent office.
Not going to read the hit piece from NR. Already can envision what it says.
Charlie Crist was just compromised a little sooner than some of the others. At one time, Charlie could TALK a good “conservative” line, but events and results did not bear out that original impression.
One wonders how or why the same pressures were applied to Marco Rubio.
The Borg has assimilated WAY too many of the original foot soldiers.
