Is Ted Cruz Lying Low?
National Review ^ | June 18, 2013 | National Review

He’s opposed the Gang of Eight bill, but some think not aggressively enough.

By Andrew Stiles

Since taking office in January, Senator Ted Cruz has earned a reputation for being one of the most unapologetically outspoken lawmakers on Capitol Hill. So much so, perhaps, that when it comes to the Gang of Eight’s immigration-reform bill, of which Cruz has been one of the strongest Republican critics, it might seem like he’s been taking it easy.

John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902) said it best: “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”.............

We should just go ahead and have the Tea Party break away, name Sarah Palin as its leader and take it from there.

I am starting to enthusiastically agree.

The GOP wants to stick around, and sell-off what remains of once profitable US companies.

I say start the Tea Party.

Bull Shite!

Anyone think Cruz gives in is a fool.

There is no comparison between that softening Floridah “conservative” Senator and the true Conservative Senator from conservative Texas.

I think this shows that Cruz is being careful. The old saying is that, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”; but in Washington, far too often, “the squeaky wheel *gets greased*.”

That is, he needs to save up his speaking for when it really matters, or he will make himself a target.

Does anyone realize the extent of the pressure being exerted by powerful lobbyists on each and every member of the Senate and House? Lobbyists working for mega-corporations like Microsoft, Google....the list goes on and on.....mega-corporations of all kinds which will benefit in a variety of ways from an unprecedented population surge if the amnesty bill passes.

Does anyone realize how many special interests will benefit from cheap labor which will become available if the legislation passes?

Does anyone realize the perceived boon to entities such as the real estate industry, the banking industry, the medical industry, the legal industry, the welfare industry, the entertainment and media industry....all of which are desperately looking for 20-30 million more new consumers to shore up their shaky business flow.

Does anyone know that it takes millions of dollars for members of the higher and lower houses of Congress to run re-election campaigns and WIN?

Does anyone think that candidates of both parties are not anxiously worried about the spigots of campaign donations from big-bucks donors being turned off.....or on.....or off again....because they know big-dollar donations from these big business nabobs depend on their amnesty vote?

Rush went through this whole scenario the other day, and as usual, Rush is right. Forget all the beanbag surrounding this issue and forget trying to figure all the minute reasons for the spate of "yes" votes already known....JUST ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL.

On Fox News yesterday, Palin was on the couch and they had Ted Cruz on video. I was NOT impressed with his stand on NSA. It was the least veiled support of the NSA he thought he could get away with, without angering Tea Party type Conservatives. This was with his #1 supporter (Palin) sitting right there.

I know defenders will defend him, but it was a 180 from what I expected. After what happened with Rubio, warning bells were going off, flags were raised, “oh, not you too” thoughts were going off like a 4th of July finale.

Am I reading too much into this TV appearance? Maybe so.
but,

One if by land, and two if by sea
And I on the opposite shore will be
Ready to ride, and spread the alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm.
For the country folk to be up and to arm.

Cruz has made his views known on immigration. He also knows that nothing the Senate passes is going to get a vote in the House.
