Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) says Speaker John Boehner should be ousted if he rams through an immigration bill without majority Republican support.
If Speaker Boehner moves forward and permits this to come to a vote even though the majority of the Republicans in the Houseand thats if they dooppose whatever it is thats coming to a vote, he should be removed as Speaker, Rohrabacher said on World Net Daily radio on Monday.
Rohrabacher was responding to Boehners assertion that immigration reform is at the top of his legislative agenda and his suggestion in an interview with ABC last week in which he would not rule out pushing a bill through without the support of a majority of his party, a violation of the so-called Hastert rule.
I would consider that a betrayal of the Republican members of the House and a betrayal of the Republicans throughout the country, Rohrabacher said.
The Washington Examiner reported Sunday that Boehner has decided he will not call a vote without his partys backing.
Rohrabacher also said he is alerting the American people to this danger that is right upon us and he slammed the Gang of Eight for voting down Sen. Chuck Grassleys (R-Iowa) amendment requiring the implementation of stricter border security before legalization. There will be no border security improvements. Itll all be a facade, Rohrabacher said of the bill.
He also attacked the immigration bills supporters, saying those people pushing this bill are doing it in the most deceptive and dishonest way.
Number one on Rohrabachers list is Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), whom he accused of using weasel words in a bid for reform. Rubio is so mixed up and so confused. I think he has given up his rightful place to advise any of us in Washington what to do and hes given up any right to be trusted by the American people, Rohrabacher said.
He continued: Im not going to vote for any bill that has a provision that legalizes the status of those people who are here illegally.
Dana you are on the right track.
Except I’m not sure we even need to wait.
Get him out of that spot. We need a real leader.
That would be a betrayal not only of Republicans but of all Americans.
Kick the drunken crying RINO b**tard out.
So far he will not hit the ground until Ireland.
We don’t give a smelly Obama about that RINidiot anymore.
Boehner can be the leader of 18 RINOs, if he can find that many. The rest of the Republicans ought to elect a new Speaker.
Excellent plan -- wait till AFTER the guy stabs his own in the back to get rid of him. D'oh! How about this -- hold a vote for his replacement UNLESS he does something irrevocable that would prevent him from being able to do it? If that's not possible, I think you just have to go on his record and replace him BEFORE he can do irreversible damage.
I wish we had more people in congress like Rohrabacher.
We can’t give a re-packaged ACORN full and unfettered control over immigration as the current proposal is written. Start with Boehner, then move over to the Senate get rid of Reid, Durbin, Graham, McCain, and the balance of the RINOs.
Really. I’m quite sick of these ‘imaginary lines in the sand’ republicans are so fond of drawing.
??? They just re-elected him Speaker a few months ago, right after the tax compromise extension.
Bohner knows they will do nothing but whine
Uhhh...the Dems and the 18 Rinos could elect another speaker or keep Boehner in there...despite what the majority of Repubs do!
The Republicans are only a pretend opposition party. They stand for fiscal responsibility whenever they are out of power.
The Republicans are the “Seinfeld” Party - A Party about nothing.
It did Caesar a lot of good to wait, right?
THE RUBICON has been crossed.
Boehner is with the DNC.
Well, at least one congressman gets it. It is a pity that more of them haven’t done so.
Ain't that the truth, Marco Rubio.
The opportunity to do that has already come and gone. Even Bachmann voted to keep Boehner in at the last minute.
