Is Obama Losing Young Voters?
Washington Examiner ^ | JUNE 17, 2013

Posted on 06/18/2013 1:21:52 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Barack Obama’s job approval rating is down to 45 percent in the lastest CNN/ORC poll, conducted June 11-13, with 54 percent disapproval. The approval number is down from 53 percent in CNN/ORC’s May 17-18 poll. Most interesting result: Obama is getting only 48-percent approval from those age 18 to 34, only 3 percent above his national average.

By way of comparison, Obama’s 66 percent of the vote among 18-29s in November 2008 was 13 percent above his 53-percent nationwide percentage, and his 60 percent of the vote among 18-29s in November 2012 was 9 percent above his 51-percent nationwide percentage. Yes, the two age groups aren’t quite commensurate, but the numbers still suggest that the gap between young voters and their elders is shrinking. In 2008, it was the widest we have seen in any presidential general election since 1972 — and we don’t have any exit-poll data before then. In the latest CNN/ORC poll, it was down near the level of statistical insignificance.

Why is Obamamania disappearing among the young? One reason: Only 40 percent approve his performance on the economy, slightly less than the 42 percent among all respondents. Many conservatives have been wondering when the economic woes of young Americans — the high rate of joblessness, crushing student loan debt for worthless degrees or no degree — would sour them on Obama. If the CNN/ORC poll is right, the time is now.

Important caveat: this is just one poll. It could be wrong or misleading. Even so, it’s interesting. Some analyst’s have been extrapolating Obama’s 66-percent number in 2008 far out into the future, suggesting we will become an overwhelmingly Democratic country. These numbers suggest that may not be so.

well, obviously these young people are racist.

Famous people across the spectrum, from MSNBC talking heads, to Jimmy Carter, have said tha opposition to this president and his policies is due to racism.

And we know that, according to political correctness, we’re not allowed to criticize any member of an officially recognized grievance group without being called a bigot.

“He’ll never need them again.”

It’s the other way around, too. They got their EBT’s, homo agenda, illegal immigration DACA etc.

The only thing our youth is angry about is the possibility that the NSA intercepted their sextings to and from their teachers.

The real question is could another Obama sell himself to the current youth.

I believe they could use the Obama template of Hope/change and nonspecific crap again and sucker the newest crop of mushy minds.

The main reason young people don’t like Buckwheat anymore is because he’s spying on their facebook and tumblr accounts. That is a mortal sin, and obuma will never regain popularity with young people.

Anyone else smell burnt toast?

If republicns want to win over the young voters, push legislation to forbid Internet spying on Americans. It will collapse the rat party.

Yep, it would be nice for this to become so ugly that many of those young voters are scarred, and refuse to take the democrats (and the media) at face value ever again, and will at least check out the republicans, rather than automatically dismissing them.

True. Obama has given the GOP a plan for victory for the next 25 years - abolish Obamacare nails down the 26 - 40 year old demographic, and outlawing the tinkering of the internet without just cause gets the 18 - 26 year olds.

Unless Marco Rubio has his way.

Bingo! We have one here who gets it! You, sir, have obviously raised a teenage daughter who one day got an inkling that Mom had peeked in her diary. Well done!

legislation does not get attention of indictments, trials and death sentences.

the irs treacherous tyrany should be punishable by death.

The spy charges should carry a lesser sentence but there must be hype from the right and squealing from the left.

“Why is Obamamania disappearing among the young?”

Probably because some of them are getting older and wiser. But dont worry, there will be a whole new upcoming generation of young, new idiots to take up the slack.

Snowden and the recent historical release of NSA files: I wish that there were such courageous young persons at Occidental and Columbia who will secretly release Obama's college records so that we can see if Obama registered as a foreign student.

Such an action could be very dangerous because the person could receive jail time like the brave Snowden will probably receive jail time.

But the young person at Occidental and Columbia who can secretly get his hands on Obama's records will go down as a hero in the history of the United States.

I am not interested in whether Obama got an A or D in freshman English.

I want to know how he paid for his college education, when he did not have a job from the time he enrolled in Occidental until he graduated from Columbia 4 years later.

So I plead with brave young students and alumni at Occidental in California or at Columbia: Please be brave like Snowden and help your country by getting us copies of Obama's college records. Please.

Baraque may be set for life. Depends on how ambitious First Wookie is.

On the one hand, after feasting on public trove for > 8 years, I can't see the Mrs will be content to be the ex-first lady for the rest of her life. (a la Hillary)

On the other, if she seeks public office, that would entail her actually working towards getting herself elected and vote/make decisions. Don't see that either.

How else can they continue their con-artist game? But I wouldn't worry about the Obamas. There will always be a new crop of young fools (i.e., useful idiots) coming along.

He was reelected to a position with a term limit of two.

I am reasonably certain he does not care much about his party.

He cares about one thing and one thing only: Barack Hussein Obama.
