Skip to comments.Senate Amnesty Supporters Boast Marco Rubio ‘Neutralized’ Limbaugh, Fox News
Posted on 06/18/2013 3:55:31 PM PDT by RatherBiased.com
New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza caused a bit of a stir in the conservative media world today in a report he filed for the New Yorker about the ongoing debate in the U.S. Senate over an immigration bill that is currently opposed by many conservatives. According to the piece, the so-called Gang of Eight see the role of Florida Republican Marco Rubio as being to neutralize conservative talk radio and to get opinion hosts on Fox News Channel to either talk up the legislation or at least not oppose it.
In their view, Rubio, who was initially touted by many conservatives nationally as their great hope even though he was regarded far more skeptically by Florida conservatives, has succeeded in his assignment.
Two Democrats in the group, New Yorks Chuck Schumer and New Jerseys Bob Menendez, flat-out stated as much to Lizza:
Menendez told me that Rubios role was to work over the conservative universe, particularly the conservative opinion-maker universe, in order to neutralize them and, in some cases, proselytize them. Schumer said, Hes the real deal. He is smart, he is substantive. He knows when to compromise and when to hold. And hes personable. An aide to Menendez said that if the Gang were a group of high-school students, Rubio would be the cool jock and the captain of the football team, with whom everyone wanted to hang out. Schumer often found himself mediating disputes between Rubio and McCain, who felt that Rubios public statements sometimes positioned him positively with conservatives at the expense of the Gang. McCain would call Schumer and fume, Look what Rubios doing!

I hate our government, I mean REALLY hate it. And the press, too.
currently opposed by many conservatives.
Is the year 2000 Currently?
I would say the last 50 years!
Remember when we had the WETBACK program? The Good Ole days!!
I’m shocked! Shocked, I say! /s
We need capital offense recall laws.
Does this report mention that when the useful idiot Rubio leaves the room the democrats fall all over themselves laughing at him ?
I’m pretty offended by these “Conservative” ads they’re running to push Amnesty.
Marco needs to march right down to Dade County voter registration and register D..en espanol, of course....
More red meat ping.
What is our role in this new era? Do they still expect us to support and defend this ‘fundamentally’ transformed nation? I do not recognize it any more.
We need something because what we have now is a dam* mess! All this government and abuse isn’t anything that our founders had in mind.
I guess in the end the only thing I can say in Rubio’s favor is that he pissed off McCain.
Otherwise..he is a real disappointment.
You mean the wolves in sheep’s clothing?
Rubio is nothing more than a used kleenex, now.
translation he;s doing what we want.
To think him and Paul had a good future
The media is providing the safe environment in which these politicians can push agenda items that would otherwise get sliced to ribbons. All of the players in this farce are loathsome, but the media is absolutely Satanic.
No, Rubio just neutralized himself.
It’s not working boys.
Funny, I don’t feel “neutralized”.
You know it’s bad when Chuck Schumer starts praising you. Rubio’s a f***ing snake.
Suuure...and the baloney "neutralized" the meat slicer. What BULLSHIT!!
Paul Ryan is making an a$$ out of himself now on Levin.
I used to think he was relatively intelligent, but now it seems HE thinks we’re stupid.
(Ya think THIS administration would deport someone who didn’t “learn English”???!!!???)
The repukes are dropping like flies.
Marco Rubio, “the real deal,” according to Schumer. Oily, oily, oily. But Marco will be enjoying the cocktail parties, I’m sure.
See, now this is why its important for us to elect lesser evils because Dems are much worse. /s
And people wonder why I harp on this crap...
Vote Orubio. He’s clean and articulate.
LOL Glenn Beck is calling him Senator Dirtbag.
Rubio is close on the trail of an elusive, trickster. Following the path of the OrangeMan Charlie Crist.
“useful idiot Rubio”
He’s not a useful idiot. He’s a lefty - one of them. The only idiots are those that think he politically of the right.
And the idiots still saying we need to elect more like him to WIN!!!
Tell’em what they “WON!” Johnny...
Paul Ryan (on Levin) is so dense, he thinks Obama WANTS to grow the economy!!!!!!!! HA!!!
Putting Rubio aside for a moment...
McCain...I hate that SOB...almost as much as Obama...
At least Obama will look you in the eye...while he stabs you in the heart..McCain will slip the knife in your back...everytime..
It’s not too late for Limbaugh and Levin to go nuclear on Marco Rubio; but they ain’t doing are they. They must think they have no influence to effect the outcome and that they are better off being Marco’s friend.
But I can say for sure that Fox News sold out a long time ago at about the time that Uncle Rupert brought that guy on board us allies call Tokyo Rove.
Remember that after Pelosi took power, Rush admitted on air he, quote, “Carried the Republican’s water”
That is a cast in broadcast history fact. I agree with him on most all things...but I will forever filter his comments/positions through his own admission.
Rubio has sided with La Raza.
I am too... everyone is... everyone knows it is all lies and the enemedia know it is lies and the left knows that it is lies... but throwing money at us through ad bombing is all that they have left.
The more I listen to these guys, the angrier I get.
From Wikipedia: Operation Wetback (1954): Implementation and tactics
Operation Wetback was a system of tactical control and cooperation within the U.S. Border Patrol and alongside the Mexican government. Planning between the INS led by Gen. Joseph Swing and the Mexican government began in early 1954 while the program was formally announced in May 1954. On May 17th, 1954 command teams of 12 Border Patrol agents, buses, planes, and temporary processing stations began locating, processing, and deporting Mexicans that had illegally entered the United States. 750 immigration and border patrol officers and investigators, 300 jeeps, cars and buses, and 7 airplanes were allocated for the operation. Teams were focused on quick processing and deportation, as planes were able to coordinate ground efforts more quickly and increase mobility. Those deported were handed off to Mexican officials, who in turn deported them into central Mexico where there were many labor opportunities. While the operation would include the cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago, its main targets were border areas in Texas and California. Overall, there were 1,078,168 apprehensions made in the first year of Operation Wetback, with 170,000 being captured from May to July 1954. The total number of apprehensions would fall to just 242,608 in 1955, and would continuously decline by year until 1962, when there was a slight rise in apprehended workers. During the entirety of the Operation, border recruitment of undocumented workers by American growers continued due largely to the inexpensiveness of undocumented labor and the desire of growers to avoid the bureaucratic obstacles of the Bracero program; the continuation of illegal immigration despite the efforts of Operation Wetback was largely responsible for the failure of the program. Despite the decline in apprehensions, the total number of Border Patrol agents more than doubled to 1,692 by 1962, and an additional plane was also added to the force. In terms of apprehensions, Operation Wetback was immediately successful. However, this success would be short lived, as the program would fail to limit the number of workers entering the United States from Mexico illegally. The program would also result in a more permanent, strategic border control presence along the United States - Mexico border.
Maybe Obama and Biden will add their gushing praise of Rubio to go along with Schumer and Menendez. I wonder if it’s occured to Rubio that this praise is also meant to further damage him with the Republican base, and to damage his future political prospects.
Well, Limbaugh’s lips have been glued to Rubio’s posterior at least since his election to the Senate.
I don’t know if it’s his new wife, but Rush has been lacking passion for a while now. I’ve stopped listening to his show because, when he’s not talking about himself, he’s whining.
The conservative opinion-makers better speak up or they are ready for the scrap heap! Friggin’ dumbazz Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin got all weepy eyed...tools that they are!
I think "Senador Cochino" conveys the idea. "Cochino" literally means pig, but it has other connotations.
I’m the same...my blood pressure rose just listening to him!
It’s PAST time Levin (and other hosts) come down on these guys—I’m tired of being spoken to like a two year old (or, an obama voter.)
And yet they keep electing him.
No, Senor Mendenez. In that scenario, Rubio would be the water-boy for the opposing side, making countless trips on and off the field during the whole game.....energetically and enthusiastically carrying the enemy's water to help them beat his own home team.
Que traidor, "Capitan" Rubio!
