On Aug. 22, 1996, just before the Democratic National Convention,
Ms. Gorelick oversaw a critical Justice Department meeting with the FBI.
Immediately after this meeting, as it happened,
all serious inquiry into the fate of TWA 800 came to an end.
I remember this controversy and the hundreds of posts here in FR and the consensus that a missile had taken FT 800 down.
I can empathize with old folks in deep pain wanting to die.

Why wouldn’t Iran publicly take credit, then? Wouldn’t it serve their interests to do so. Most terrorists take credit for their acts of terror after the fact. It serves as a morale builder and recruiting tool, and demonstrates potency. This is why I have trouble believing flight 800 was brought down by Muslims as opposed to another element - perhaps our own military.
Gorlelick is the definition of mindless partisan soulless gluttony having devastated the intelligence community before 9-11 to protect Bill Clinton and ?, raped Fannie Mae of tens of millions, and now “working” for BP and surely skimming some of those reparations for fouling our Gulf

Don’t know how many remember this...but Pierre Salinger, JFK’s old press secretary held a news conference from the relative safety of France...and called out the US government on this story...he died shortly thereafter.
Very few people in the Aviation industry believed the fuel tank explosion story and virtually everyone was of the opinion that it was a missile or bomb that destroyed TWA flight 800.
Everyone who was in any position to have inside information pretty much acknowledged it was not an accident or design issue that caused the plane to explode.
Right after 9/11, George Stephanopolos, said in his news reporting of 9/11 attack, that the 9/11 attacks were the first major terrorist attacks on the US since “ TWA Flight 800 was bombed”
There never was any serious liability law suit against Boeing or TWA for the simple reason that is was either a terrorist attack or a US military test gone horribly wrong.
I understand that MS Gorelick has become a millionaire.

Personally, I don’t find it credible that TWA 800 was taken out by a US Navy missile. It doesn’t make logical sense in many ways. First, too many witnesses. Crew members on the ship would have talked (leaked) by now. And I don’t think even Clinton would knowingly massacre innocent Americans. Moreover, there would have been other ways to take out an airliner that left far less evidence and fewer (or no) eyewitnesses.
I do think it is like that it was a terrorist related and the Clinton Administration just sat on it. To do otherwise (and admit the real cause) would have caused panic, been an act of war (that Clinton would have had to avenge) and (gaps!) hurt his poll numbers.
