There are thousands of those bird-killing wind turbines in parts of Indiana.

"..he planned to take the bird, which he named Freedom, to the Indianapolis Zoo. "

There's just something philosophically wrong about that sentence.

My personal experiences with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the state fin, fur, and feather departments of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Washington leave me with the impression that a good percentage of the “game wardens” are power mad wannabe cops with severe personality disorders who should not be trusted with guns.

Their interests are not with the welfare of the wildlife but rather in enforcing inane laws that make life difficult for their enemies, i.e. We the People.

Insanity of the left.

It's disheartening to view youtubes of beautiful Golden Eagles getting their wing clipped and see them fall to their death.

Without taxpayer subsidies none of these idiotic, inefficient wind farms would exist.

The left is all about DEATH. They are Godless and cruel.

I remember that.

And worse yet, she found the freaking Eagle feather on the ground somewhere. Not like she plucked the damn thing from the birds back side.

guy saves eagle, gets fined.

govt wind turbines hack eagles to death, that’s fine.

if govt was really smart they’d sue the eagle. ignorance of the law is no excuse.

The idiocy of the Department of the Interior is why I steer clear of wildlife that people wish to bring to me injured. I tell them to call the Game Wardens who rarely return their calls. The Interior Department several years ago stated that I had to obtain a permit and pay a couple of hundred dollars fee yearly for the privilege of treating wildlife at my expense and if I didn't do that they would arrest me and fine me over $100K if I were to be found with wildlife in my possession. Because I am on their radar they sent several threatening letters to me to get the permit. I refuse wildlife now even if the Game Wardens ask me to take them in because of the threat from the Department of the Interior. My local game wardens are aware of the threat from the Feds toward me.

You don’t see many birds with a good, thick head of hair.
So how did our national symbol get stuck with that name?

Once critters have imprinted on humans they are less safe in the wild. Not every human approached by the eagle would understand that he is only looking for a handout!

We own a sailboat that we have docked in a marina in Ventura. Awhile back we had a sea lion crawl up on the dock and give birth. It is illegal to mess with them so the area was totally taped off so she would not be bothered. Yeah it was a huge inconvenience for everyone on the dock.

> It’s disheartening to view youtubes of beautiful Golden Eagles getting their wing clipped and see them fall to their death.

I trust you will post links to the videos you describe... All I can find are videos that show generators turning, and dead birds of undetermined cause of death on the ground.

Two questions for you.

1. In many years of reading about this problem, videos such as you describe are extremely rare (I have only seen one). I would think it would be easy to document actual collisions, given the low cost of video cams and radio links these days. Yet it’s nearly all talk, no hard evidence. Links to the videos you mention, please?

2. Given that all life is sacred, and the life of a small bird is no less precious in God’s view than that of a big bird, does the fact that domestic cats kill 10’s of MILLIONS of birds every year meant that you want to outlaw cats as pets also? Automobiles kill millions of birds large and small every year... Do you wish to outlaw cars?

I’m not arguing the pros of wind power... Big Wind is a freakin’ boondoggle in my opinion. And as a wildlife rehabilitator who spent many years saving birds, I know personally that every avian death is a tragedy, large or small.

Just sayin’, where is the evidence, and where is the perspective?

It's ok to kill a unborn baby; but not ok to rescue a bird that would otherwise die.

Yes we believe our government is wise, just, and deserving of respect.
