Bristol firearms manufacturer PTR Industries is moving to South Carolina, a company executive confirmed Wednesday.
The company which said two months ago that it would be relocating once it found a suitable location "friendly to the industry" will move to Aynor, S.C., near Myrtle Beach, said John McNamara, vice president of sales at PTR.
The gun manufacturer, with about 45 employees, was the first firm to announce its exit from the state following recent gun control legislation. Many of PTR's employees agreed to the move and even held an informal vote choosing South Carolina over other states.

Good luck to PTR. They deserve success.
Shame on our governor and legislators, whose approval ratings just hit rock bottom.
Their ratings could be below Adolf Hitler and the people of Connecticut would still reelect them.
Gotta love PTR for showing that much consideration to their employees.
They weren't on my radar screen before, but I think I will have to give them a serious look next time I need to buy a firearm.
their ratings could be lower than chris matthews’ and they’d still re-elect them.
During the war of 1861-1865, the northern states had almost all of the firearms manufacturing factories and the southern states had virtually none. The northern states eventually won that war. Once the northern states drive out all the firearms manufacturers and they relocate to southern states, there will be an advantage for the southern states. The South shall rise again!
When I went looking for a .308 black rifle, I settled on PTR91. It’s a real hoot to shoot. I imagine they’re hard to get now.
I have no personal experience w/ PTR, but I hear they produce a quality product. [I could be wrong].
“Shame on our governor and legislators, whose approval ratings just hit rock bottom.”
Yea I feel the same way out here in CA. I hope our state goes broke, because it’s the only way we are going to correct the problem. The legislature saw an uptick in tax collections as a result of people selling investments at the end of last year because of uncertainty about CG tax rates. So running true to form, they have already pissed away this money, setting the state up for yet another budget crisis, when the taxes they “are counting on to be perpetual” don’t materialize. From my former business in New England, I am just wondering with all the “industries” that have left, what are states like CT going to do for revenue. You drive around NE and you see all sorts of large vacant aging factories that are just sitting their deteriorating now that their former owners have gone under, their market has been taken over by foreign interests, or they, like the gunmakers have moved South. Take Central Falls, RI as an example of what’s in store for all of NE. And the idiot government employees there refused to take a pension haircut, so they ended up with zip!
Howz ‘bout we send you our governor instead.
I’d take South Carolina over Connecticut, any day.
I believe SC will welcome them. We have a lovely red state. I love living here in the midlands of SC.
I felt that way about my home, Seattle. After 45 years, I bought a small farm in central KY and moved there in 2011. We LOVE it here. The freedome is incredible. We can build a house with NO BUILDING PERMIT. Not that we would, but it’s incredibly freeing to know they are not going to force themselves into my life.
I did build a large shed and am having a large garage building erected soon. And no, there will be no permit.
Oh, and you can buy firearms from private parties here via the local version of Craigslist. :-)
More people need to vote with their feet.
Probably got Aynor land and labor real cheap. Good for SC.SC is very friendly to biz
South Carolina is still not a good choice. They treat gun owners from other states like crap.
Just look up their CCW reciprocity.
Just make sure the employees don’t bring any liberal voting baggage along with them.
Rebel Yell ping....
>>They treat gun owners from other states like crap.<<
Are you talking about SC or CT? Heh.
CT has no CCW reciprocity...nor will we in my lifetime. :(
I have an Indiana permit, a non-res Utah permit, plus prior military and I still can’t legally carry in the state.
I wrote off the New England states a long time ago.
Hell, I live in GA and can’t carry in SC :(
