The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of Plan B One-Step without a prescription for all women.
The FDA announced on Thursday that it would allow all women with child-bearing potential to purchase the emergency contraceptive over-the-counter without any age or point-of-sale barriers.
"Over-the-counter access to emergency contraceptive products has the potential to further decrease the rate of unintended pregnancies in the United States," said Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said in a press release.

The child molester’s friend.
....and what happens when a girl who is 6 months pregnant takes this?
What is difficult for me to understand is: how does the decision to not argue for an age restriction on this abortion pill not completely make irrelevant all laws regarding statutory rape and / or the age of consent? Follow the thinking. If a girl of any age, lets say 10 or 12, can walk into the local Wal Mart and purchase an abortion pill, it stands to reason that they are doing so with full rational understanding of their actions - at least in the eyes of the govt. So, if they, with the applause of the planned parenthood and feminazi pukes, can at any age rationalize the consequences of their actions, does that not carry over to the act of sex in the first place?
Any defense attorney worth their water will come forward with this argument, and quite an argument it is - regardless of how disgusting it will be.
I have an AMAZING plan to stop this!
Simple have someone make a drug out of it! start a trend of teen sniffing it or something, and they will ban this faster than you can say glue.
Sounds like a “plan”. Knock a girl up, and spike her drink with “plan B”...
What could go wrong here?
Sick.
What could go wrong here?
They would find a way to justify a manslaughter charge in that instance, in the same manner that most states permit an additional charge for the unborn child if someone murders the pregnant woman?!?!? What? Hello?
So I wonder if the girls can take it at school without the school nurse supervising, or if the school nurse will actually dispense it without the parents knowledge...
Any defense attorney who came forward with that argument would be laughed out of court. The crime at issue is “statutory” rape - that is, defined by STATUTE. There is a statute that says that the act of sex with someone below the age of 16 (give or take, depending on the state). The fact that the FDA has approved allowing people younger than that to purchase Plan B does nothing to change the statutorily-defined age of consent in any state.
And who will take responsibility when horible things happen to the children? Oh yeah—nobobdy know’s nothin’ in this administration and nobody’s responsible for anything.
You have way too much faith in the adherence to the letter of the law. I agree with you, don’t get me wrong, but too many courts are willing to entertain what the intent is, in addition to the letter. In the case of statutory age of consent, what is the intent? The intent is to protect those who have not the capability of making an informed decision about their actions.
It’s going to be a real tragedy 20 or so years from now when all kinds of cancers and reproductive problems from this pill show up. The powers that be are idiots. Sexually active girls (or their partners) are going to use this on a regular basis. Not to mention an explosion of STD’s right away.
Ah, the FDA: providing abortifacients for children of all ages!
Don’t give your daughter a tylenol at school, though...and don’t chew a pop-tart into the shape of a gun.
America is taking the avalanche to hell.
More serious is that the nod, wink thus implied here will work its way into legislatures, and into the more daft of the bench who COULD start to take arguments like that seriously.
Make no mistake, Obama wants to destroy what America was, and remold it into a grotesque failure.
Now “Plan B” can’t be covered by Obamacare and other health plans.
Plan B is *not* an abortion pill, despite what many posters above seem to think. It really does prevent pregnancy.
However, it is a high dose steroid pill. It may be safe to take once or twice, no less than a few months apart, but it was not tested with frequent use several times a month. And there are women who will think that it is perfectly safe to use that way. Young girls, especially, run a high risk of overusing this pill.
There is not, and it is unlikely there ever will be, a pill that a woman can take every time she has intercourse in order to prevent pregnancy.
helping hand to evil
So, this federal decision means an 11 or 12 year old female (child) can grab it off the shelf, pay at the check out and walk out of the store without any responsible adult such as the clerk or pharmacist asking if maybe she is the victim of a sexual assault, incest or older male? It sounds like the rule would actually prohibit the questions as it’s her “right to choose” even though she is below the age of consent to sexual contacts, crazy!
