Reid Statement on Farm Bill
United States Senate Democrats ^ | Jun 20, 2013 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 06/20/2013 5:23:26 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, D.C.–Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following the House Republican leadership’s failure to pass a farm bill.

“On nearly every major issue, the House has rightly accepted the bipartisan work of the Senate. Speaker Boehner should take the same commendable approach now, and do the right thing for farmers and Americans who rely on nutrition assistance by passing the Senate’s bipartisan farm bill.

“We would be happy to go to conference if the House were able to pass its own farm bill, but today’s failure proves that is unlikely to happen. Rural communities and families relying on nutrition assistance should not be held hostage to Republican incompetence. It’s time for Speaker Boehner to take the same approach that has proven successful in the past, and allow the House to pass the bipartisan work of the Senate.”

Congressman Reid, If the farmers you represent need food assistance, I see farming in Nevada is as productive as you are in Washington DC.

Truth-in-advertising requires that the farm bill be renamed the food-stamps-for-everyone bill.

The U.S. Government has not the authority to engage in this sort of activity anyway.

The farmers, ranchers and dairymen will violently disagree with me, but it is their job to sink or swim without relying upon the rest of us for support.

"Rural communities and families relying on nutrition assistance should not be held hostage to Republican incompetence."

B.S.

It's ALL about subsidies to Agri-Giant donors, and FOOD STAMPS FOR INNER-CITY TRIBAL PARASITES AND FOR THE MEXICANS WHO WILL HAVE AMNESTY AFTER THEY BROKE INTO THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, and now they will be REWARDED.

It will also virtually rid us of the health options regarding “supplements”.
These DC buttwholes are nothing but Prostitutes, their constituencies being large industries like pharma with lots of K Street dough.
They are human slugs.

What’s Harry Reid smoking? More House Democrats voted against the Farm/Food Stamp Bill than House Republicans. The Democrats wanted more $$$ for food stamps and the Republicans who bucked Boehner wanted less $ for food stamps. As food stamps are the killer, separate out the farm part of the bill and get that through to help the farmers.
