It's one of the more interesting what-ifs of the past few decades. What would have happened if both George W. and Jeb Bush had won their gubernatorial bids in 1994? Which brother would have run for President in 2000 against Al Gore? Late in George W. Bush's second presidential term, I asked his father this question. The senior Bush shrugged, waving off the hypothetical. "Who knows?" he replied. "Didn't happen." Then, after the briefest of pauses, the 41st President added, "If Jeb wants his shot, he should have it. He's done the work, been a governor--a very fine governor, I might add--and if he wants to go for it, I hope he does."
That hope, it is safe to say, endures. No one who knows George H.W. Bush seriously doubts that the former President would like to see Jeb mount a campaign for the White House. Barbara Bush has expressed skepticism. "There are other people out there that are very qualified, and we've had enough Bushes," she told NBC's Today show last April. Asked about 2016 on ABC's This Week last Sunday, Jeb said, "I think we've got a split ballot amongst the Bush senior family. Pretty sure that's the case."(continued)

Let’s hope these NSA revelations put an end to the Democrats—and the Bushes.
Why do GOPers keep nominating spoiled rich kids to run for the White House?
No, NO, NO!!!!
Poor Jeb has what my grandmother called, ‘unfortunate looks.’
If George W. Bush had been known to the public for having the Rovian hissy fits and bouts of childish name-calling directed at conservatives as Jeb Bush now is, I suspect he’d have never been nominated let alone reelected. And they call Jeb the smart one, lol. At least W kept the family disdain to himself until votes from us yahoos were no longer a concern.
Because the people in the GOP (not ‘us’, but those actually running things) are spoiled rich kids.
Stay out the bushes!
Wait, what’s that?
What hissy fits did he pitch? Never heard about it before.
You GOPers can’t nominate somebody like Sarah Palin because she’s just an ordinary American. Nope, GOPers insist they must recruit candidates from fancy country clubs and nowhere else. So moosehunters need not apply, since skinning a moose is just plain undignified on the golf course.
Because the conservatives run idiots. We have to find someone who can articulate our views without sounding like an extremist.
Are you saying Sarah Palin is an idiot? Just because the MSM says Palin is an idiot doesn’t mean it’s true.
Sounds like maybe Rove thinks the "Angry Birds" game of years past is some sort of cultural touchstone for negatively stereotyping opposition, too, since he cranked up his pet crab McCain and set him to chirping about "wacko birds."
GOOD ON YA TG.....
PALIN/CRUZ ‘16 AMERICA IS SAVED~ LET’S ROLLL!
Cue the “Aw Geez” guy.
“Why do GOPers keep nominating spoiled rich kids to run for the White House?”
Rich people are different from you and me. They have money.
Imagine that you’ve spent a life easily getting into the best schools, and getting tutors so you can stay there. You’ve gone to all the best parties and your first car was a new Mustang or Camaro. But, finally, you’re ready to settle down and make your mark in the world. Your daddy has introduced you to the movers and shakers, who are eager to help you since there’s a large quid pro quo factor. It’s easy for you, since you have access to the moneyed people in your social network. All are eager to help for that quid pro quo reason.
Having lived this life you must feel entitled. The people who will be working on your behalf are also entitled.
This isn’t to say that all wealthy people who aspire to political office feel this way. I’m sure there are some who are decent and hard working and in it for everybody, not just their own aggrandizement.
I suspect the reason the Jeb is doing this is it’s so easy for him. With just his family connections he can place calls to virtually anybody and have them accepted. That’s power. He has it just lying there so it’s hard to not use it.
It’s not that. The GOP elites only want candidates that will keep money coming their way. Normal Americans will tend to look out for all Americans not just crony capitalists.
Oh, are we finally getting to genetically selected presidents?
Can we please just have the next world war, so we can clear the garbage?
I saw an interview after W was elected, where Barbara admitted that they all thought that Jeb would be the one that would run and win the presidency.
However, he didn’t become Governor when they thought he would either, so W was the one who got tapped.
Like the not-so right reverend once said, “Stay out da bushes!”
I’m beginning to recognize Palin’s political value. At first I felt reluctant to support her since she was often mocked as clueless. But now I realize that’s part of her charm. Many Americans can connect with her since she is indeed ordinary. Really, how many voters would say “I want to drink a beer with Romney, McCainer, or George W. Bush? Romney and Bush don’t drink and McCainer looks like an angry old man. The Country Club Republicans might look good if you see their resumes, but you can’t fall in love with a resume. it’s time for GOPers to recruit ordinary Americans to run for elective office and let the Country Clubbers do the fundraising for them.
am about fed up with the bush’s Clintons and certainly this Marxist turd obammy.
Please all of ya, just go away.
It’s all cast in stone...Bush/Rubio led by Karl Rove
“its time for GOPers to recruit ordinary Americans to run for elective office and let the Country Clubbers do the fundraising for them.”
Unfortunately, that can’t happen. The Country Clubbers have spent a lifetime together and can comfortably negotiate a deal with each other that’s illegal as hell. “So, you’ll slap a tariff on imported steel so my steel mills will be more profitable, right?” Since they’ve known each other from childhood and slept with the same partners and been drunk or stoned together, they are 100% sure none of this will haunt them. But that’s not so with ordinary Americans, who would be appalled by the offer.
Hopefully a conservative independent or a reasonable Libertarian will run so I can participate.
It's just that his eyes and nose forgot to keep pace with his mouth when he was growing up. Tiny nose makes him a perpetual mouthbreather.
To quote the prevaricator: “What difference...does it make?!” He won’t beat Hildebeast.
If there were any doubt that Jeb Bush would be the death of this country, it is the “endorsement” by Time...
Two or three conservatives will run in the primaries, staying in until the end and splitting the conservative vote. Bush, or whoever is the establishment candidate, will win by default.
Jeb can run for President from now until the day he dies, but the only way he or any other GOPer will see the inside of the White House is by invitation. Game, set and match are done. This country has shifted too far to the left.
You have a very valid point.
I won’t be voting for Jeb.
I backed Rubio in the Florida election.
I was fooled by the turd ONCE,
It will not happen again.
Same for Jeb.
I’ll vote present before voting for either again
Mostly it’s name ID. Republican primary voters are too busy working to pay taxes to support their opponents and have little time to study candidates and the Constitution.
If he runs... a third party will be born and jeb and his cabal will have caused it. Conservatives may lose but we already are losers in this jeb bush party... one consolation... the republicans will come in third. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANOTHER bush AS LONG AS I LIVE. TWO were TWO TOO MANY!
This GOP royalty crap brings nothing to the table. “Hi, I’m a Bush, and it’s my turn to be president.” Seriously, go away. There is enough amnesty foolishness without Jeb mucking things up with more of it.
If the GOP can’t produce intelligent, competent, well-spoken candidates who can push aside human scrap like Jeb, the party is doomed
No more Bushes, ever. These clowns have been the leaders of the “conservative” party in American for a big chunk of my adult life and its has been a disaster. They need to go away.
NO! NO! NO! If it happens I will not vote for him.
Jeb is unelectable due to Illegal Aliens, Terri Schiavo, and daughter Noelle....the latter the Dems will use if he is GOP pres nominee in 16
[We have to find someone who can articulate our views without sounding like an extremist.]
Yeah, but can Ted Cruz be POTUS?
Good grief! Another Ivy League Locust.
We have got to figure out how to put and end to that swarm so they’ll stop consuming our hard-earned livelihoods.
[Thats power. He has it just lying there so its hard to not use it.]
Which is exactly why he and his Tribe need to be de-powered.
One’s hope could be that the Clintons would be brought down as well.
(Though like you, I’m close to beyond hoping.)
After Terry Schivo, I’m not on the Jeb Bush bandwagon. It will be the same as with Romney. They’ll flood the primaries with a gazillion candidates to divide the conservative vote so that he’s one of the last ones standing.
“Sarah Palin because shes just an ordinary American”
Do you know why I did not play basketball in the NBA ?
It is because I am just an ordinary basketball player.
The question is “who do you want to be the president of the USA ?” Do you want an ordinary American or an extra ordinary American ?
