White House Offers Stealth Campaign to Support Immigration Bill (Quietly working with Senate GOP)

WASHINGTON — The hide-out has no sign on the door, but inside Dirksen 201 is a spare suite of offices the White House has transformed into its covert immigration war room on Capitol Hill.

Strategically located down the hall from the Senate Judiciary Committee in one of the city’s massive Congressional office buildings, the work space normally reserved for the vice president is now the hub of a stealthy legislative operation run by President Obama’s staff.

“We are trying hard not to be heavy handed about what we are doing,” said Cecilia Muñoz...

...[Snip] this time, high-profile help from the White House is anathema to many Republicans who do not want to be seen by constituents as carrying out the will of Mr. Obama.

So while lawmakers from both parties are privately relying on the White House and its agencies to provide technical information to draft scores of amendments to the immigration bill, few Republicans are willing to admit it. Some are so eager to prove that the White House is not pulling the strings that their aides say the administration is not playing any role at all.

“President Obama’s concept of engaging Congress is giving a speech that nobody up here listens to,” said Alex Conant, a spokesman for Senator Marco Rubio...

Inside Room 201, the administration has gathered a collection of its own Congressional lobbyists, policy specialists and experts from an alphabet soup of the agencies...[Snip]

“We have folks who know the Senate really well, who know the players, who have been through this before so they know exactly what Senate staff needs,” Ms. Muñoz said. “We are deeply, deeply engaged.”

“People know where to find them,” a Democratic aide said. “It’s like going to the nurse’s office. They know where it is.”

"In the meantime, two Republican aides said emphatically that White House officials had not participated at all in the drafting of the bill by the bipartisan group of senators.

But White House and administration officials have been in frequent touch with Republican senators as the lawmakers have to come up with dozens of amendments on tighter border security and other parts of the bill they deem insufficient."...

Who still trusts our lying mainstream politicians? They have all become millionaires “serving the public.” Isn’t that curious, given the fact that obviously they know nothing about business

Which ones haven’t been caught, directly or by deduction, at this point?

Actually this is being run by Obama’s staff.

The same goes, anyone playing along with this should be jettisoned.

Key...

“The big thing is getting a primary challenger from the right,” Mr. Gutierrez said. “That’s what really worries Republicans.”

We need to find out which Republican Senators (or their staff members) are routinely visiting this "nurse's office."

Calling R-Senators in one-by-one and going over their NSA intercepts.

Start with Marco the traitor Rubio. He could have been President but he threw it all away because he valued illegals (racial loyalty?) more then the citizens and sovereignty of this once great country.

People don't get it. Both parties want this bill. The Dems want it for amnesty and increased numbers of legal immigrants that will make them the permanent majority party. The bill will bring in at least 47 million legal immigrants over the next 10 years--three times more than the decade ending in 2010, which saw 13.9 million legal immigrants enter this country, the highest decade in American history.

The Reps want the bill for more guest workers--white collar and agricultural--to please their corporate masters. The bill doubles the number of guest workers increasing the numbers by 1.6 million the first year and 600,000 every year thereafter.

This phony border security scam issue is meant to deflect from the central problem with this bill, i.e., it takes jobs from American workers and depresses wages even further. Throwing more resources at the border really does not fix this bill or this central problem. We are being sold out by the political elites of both parties.

Yep. Bright line rule on this one: Any Republican who votes to reward individuals who broke the law will be primaried.

I don’t necessarily believe the pro-Obama propaganda put out by the Pravda-esque New York Slimes.

Of course we have some morons in the GOP senatorial caucus....Murkowski, McIgnorant, Lindsey the Loafer... but that isn’t a surprise.

To some degree, I don't think it matters whether it's propaganda, or not. The larger point is, in the end, Obama and his party will get all the praise for this if it passes, and the GOP amnesty supporters will get squat.

Just look at what the leftist press did to their favorite Republican, McCain, when he ran for president...

Just waiting for the rug to be pulled from under the hapless ones.

Obviously the Times is printing this to blow-up the deal.

Obviously they are doing the White Hut’s bidding in doing so.

Obviously Mitch McConnell and the 4 GOP Gang Members are too stupid to realize he is playing them at both ends.

Obviously Obama does not give a crap about this problem, other than to have the issue for the midterm elections.
